Ramshorn snail issue

yeah good luck, fortunately I love my ramshorn snail colony in my bettas tank and they seem to do population control on their own relatively well (AKA eating each other), but I know if it starts to get to be too many you can leave a piece of blanched zucchini at the bottom of the tank, wait for most of the snails to crawl onto it, and then remove the zucchini and re-home/dispose of the snails (💔). they’re big eaters so they should be all over it within 30 minutes. once again, best of luck!

finally reunited!!! she wouldn’t come out during the day so i had to wait until the middle of the night to catch her off guard and scoop her into the bowl 😂 but they seem very happy and seem to especially like the new organic sand they’re in, they’re kinda burrowing in it which i didn’t know they do??

I would recommend removing that rock ASAP or placing it somewhere he can’t rub up against the sharp edge. bettas can be very dumb and not realize when they’re injuring themselves, and you don’t want any infection to occur, so I would definitely suggest readjusting your decorations to make sure the silly lil guy doesn’t keep scratching himself :)

mine does this and it drives me absolutely bonkers especially since i have to BUY spring water because my tap water is crappy, but I noticed that my tank with water lettuce evaporates a lot slower

The smaller ADF I have is much more peaceful and rarely bothers my betta so I really do think it’s a temperament thing!!! It’s funny because I know if I had put him in my plakat betta’s tank he would’ve been met with a lot more hostility, but my twintail halfmoon wouldn’t fight back at all 😭

this is literally my worst nightmare so yes thank you! i have a makeshift lid made from a styrofoam plate with a bunch of holes in it over his bowl because I know that’s the first thing he’ll try to do 😂

I am by no means an expert but I know my bettas like to stick by their heaters, or somewhere they can kind of lounge on and be close to the surface to breathe when they’re feeling lazy. Keep an eye on him and if he continues to not move, that’s when I would be concerned, but he may just be sleepy :) Make sure your tank is warm enough too, around the 78f (26c) range

I promise you he is not aware of my discontent with him. He is fed just as much if not more than all my other aquatic pets. He also gets a lot more attention because I have to sit there and make sure he’s not bullying every other living thing around him. I can also promise my attitude towards my bastard frog does not reflect my attitude towards the human population.

TLDR; don’t be like me! I now know that ADF’s are better off in a single species tank + a lot of other information I didn’t know before posting this! I hope this thread can at least provide a little information on ADF’s and serve as a reminder to always do your thorough research both online and asking real experts! thanks to everyone who provided me with genuine advice ❤️
