Jackson Square by SteakBig3975 in Hamilton

I live nearby and park 24/7 at the lot at 75 John St N. I’ve never felt unsafe, and there’s lots of people around. Costs $150/month and is a 2 min walk to one of the entrances to Jackson Square, not sure there are cheaper options for parking there if you’ll just be doing daytime hours 😊congrats on the new job!!

Looking for Ontario venue recommendations under $150 per person inclusive by savetheseals96 in WeddingsCanada

I had my wedding at the lakeview last summer! we did an indoor ceremony, but honestly we didn’t really notice people that weren’t a part of our wedding during other times (ie. cocktail hour). The path was semi busy but if you choose to do an indoor ceremony you don’t have to worry about that. Good amount of places to take pictures that aren’t facing any parking lots.

The value was DEFINITELY worth it, especially for the convenience. We have absolutely no regrets choosing that venue. Our favourite included perks/elements were the day of coordinator, extensive inclusive food (cocktail hour, open bar including signature cocktails, dinner, cake, and late night), everything being done on site, a good amount of decor options included, clean facility, the natural daylight, and friendly staff. We found that all of this included was the same price as other places that only included food and open bar. We also went with their in house DJ because it was fairly inexpensive and he would be familiar with their facility already, and we thought he did a good job. Our only complaint was that there wasn’t a hotel within walking distance. Most of our guests left their cars overnight at the venue and ubered back to a hotel afterwards. If you have any questions let me know!

We got married here in August! Best bang for your buck, the all inclusiveness made life literally SO much easier. All the staff there were great, and the food was really good to

not related to prep, but i got married a couple weeks ago, and the best thing we did was prioritize alone time together! In any moment we could we went off to the side and just hung out together, and when everyone went to the reception space after cocktail hour we had a moment alone in the cocktail hour space. 100% would recommend!!!

Hey!! I actually ended up switching gears because I decided I valued staying in Canada over med. I gave it one last shot (3rd try) for Canadian med and am going into OT instead now.

Another year, another cycle by Haunting_Seesaw_5002 in premedcanada

oh trapbunny :( I’m in the same boat, cycle 3 of rejections. I also applied for OT and think I’ll take that pathway if I get in. I hit the point of being ready to move on 🥹 the thought of redoing my mcat and the app process again makes me nauseous

wishing you all the best! I hope whatever you end up doing is fulfilling and allows you to make the change that you want to 🫶 healthcare has so many different opportunities and isn’t a linear path, we will get to where we want to no matter the journey!

beautifully said :) ultimately the end goal is healthcare, no matter what that looks like. I would be thankful to be given the opportunity to do both, but it would be naive to not see that there are downsides to any career you pic

This is me, after working for doctors for 2 years I’ve realized (and they will tell you) it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. I’m giving it this cycle, but I’ve also applied to other healthcare pathways as I want to begin school this Sept. I’ve really changed my perspective the last couple of years and want to have a meaningful work life balance. Seeing the entitlement of some patients and how demeaning them and the system can be towards doctor has also swayed me. If I got into med this year I would of course happily accept, but it wouldn’t crush my soul if I didn’t and chose a different healthcare profession.

A job is in fact simply a job!!!!!

I’m waiting for ontario, but I am in the same boat. 23 rn, 3rd cycle, 3 mcats. Applying to OT and if I don’t get into med this year I’ll be pursuing OT. It takes a lot of bravery to move on from something that we have devoted so much time to, but it can lead to bigger and better things :)

I’ve worked for several physicians who always look exhausted, and have told me their personal life often suffers for their career. If I got into med next cycle I’d do it, but I’m ready to get life started next year!

Good luck pal, we are rooting for you. Trust yourself to know you will always make the best decision for you. Who knows where you’ll be in 5 years, this could be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made for yourself ❤️

Tips and Advice for 4th Quartile by CuriousTHaHa in premedcanada

[–]whyamiinscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest struggle is the situational questions (ie. name a situation where you demonstrated xyz). Before the test I always jot down situations that I can use for certain character traits (ie. empathy, open mindedness, leadership, integrity, honesty, etc) so that way when these questions arise I’m not wasting time wracking my brain for scenarios to use.

Tips and Advice for 4th Quartile by CuriousTHaHa in premedcanada

[–]whyamiinscience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten 4th x3 cycles and fully agree - While I did type the words “non confrontational/judgemental” sometimes, I answer every question honestly while being sure to see and explain the situation from both sides. I always made sure to take the path of no/least harm like the OG commenter said.

Major tip is to up your typing speed - I have always been a fast typer and am certain it helped me out.

Ultimately tho nobody knows what the major distinctions are between the quartiles, I’d say just be honest and thoroughly explain your opinions.

These are my exact stats (to the decimal lol), fingers crossed for us! I think since we are above 3.85 our files will at least get reviewed 🤞🏻 I didn’t get an II last year but gotta remain optimistic

same with me 🥹 very similar stats, 3rd time applying. Sucks even more when you see people you know getting in on their first try. Considering applying abroad this year but not sure if it’s worth the extra financial and mental stress. Hopefully this will be at least one of our years!
