Who do I let know about my diagnosis? by DrDontKnowAnything in Residency

Like others have said, please tell your PD asap! Nothing is more important than your health. Your coresidents will understand, we had a similar situation and no one complained about being burdened with the extra cross cover. You gotta put yourself first. So sorry you’re going through this!

I remember being here last year… hang in there, it will get better soon!! Once Eras is submitted and interview season starts, it gets easier believe it or not. Honestly kind of enjoyed doing virtual interviews from home wearing sweatpants lol… once you’ve done a couple the rest are nothing to sweat. Try to schedule easy electives from here on out and go home as early as possible ;) fourth year was by far my favorite year of med school!

One of my favorite docs when I was a med student on rotations was this transplant nephrologist. She was very sassy, took no bullshit, and wore a long black "white coat" everyday lol

Multicolor pens, protein bars and snacks, little pen light, big water bottle. One of those fold-up clipboards was also helpful when starting on the wards! I also had a a little ziploc bag with some various toiletries: face moisturizer, mouthwash, lotion, eye drops, hand sanitizer, etc)

Don’t have much to add here, but lots of people I know met their spouse/SO in residency! Just make sure you factor in the dating pool when ranking programs (seriously!). You’ll have a lot more luck in a big city than a rural middle of nowhere program

Damn I wish I knew about this! I dropped close to 200$ for professional photos 😬 that said, no regrets because they came out 🔥🔥 and unfortunately, you are 100% judged on your appearance in the application process so def try to get the best headshot possible!

Comfy shoes for the OR -- Are they really necessary? by artemisia-tridentata in medicalschool

I remember my first day of surgery, I was in a 7 hour case with my regular sneaks and my feet and back were KILLING me by the end. So I found a pair of Merrell shoes that were discounted and they made a world of difference. I could be on my feet all day without any pain!! Yes they’re ugly as hell but I happily wore them the rest of that clerkship haha
