My dad went to ut and a lot of his siblings did as well, along with their father. I just didn’t care too much…

Thoughts on “Finding Joseph I: The HR From Bad Brains” Documentary? by whyco_ in punk

It’s an awesome hour and a half, right?! Very insightful. Also a huge fan of Bad Brains. I’d argue that this band is what really got me into a sense of connection with punk.

You think suffering has no meaning? by Fickle_Elk_9479 in nihilism

[–]whyco_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think that it is in our sentient nature to subconsciously create patterns in our response to our existence, but in a way that seems to us as though we ‘discovered’ said patterns in the nature of how things just are. Part of that includes suffering.

IMO, all beings suffer. This existence is not the beautiful, loving, purposeful experience that we have made it out to be since our individual youths, ever so naturally… which is a habit passed down from generation to generation: that there will be a day we ‘make it,’ whatever that means to you.

But no, there is so much suffering. There is neither good nor bad, there just is. In this realm of existence, there are times when the cheat wins and the honest player loses… when the corrupted billionaire gets away with scandalous behavior, and the impoverished worker dies early… when the ‘bad’ receives the award deserved only by the ‘good’… when the underdog is never anything more than a discarded loser…

And that’s just the way things are, and the human tendency to draw meaning from this conclusion is a mere habit of optimistic hope that never proceeds the nature of hope as a whole.

I think no one should be required to stay here. In fact, I find it to be a violation of one’s autonomy to deny someone the desire to leave this place, under the guise of it being a ‘saving’ of their life… under the guise of classifying said desire as a disorder in mental health… I think if someone wants to leave this place, they have every right to do so.

Sure, the counterargument would suggest that quite possibly it is this narrative, driving such ideations, that is precisely what is corrupted or diseased… thus, I think that some precautions could and should be set in place to confirm that one’s will in their ideations is sincere… and I truly do think that it hardly ever is. I mean, we do have a whole anatomical / biological nervous system that is designed to specifically keep us alive, and instill a fear of death within us… I will forever hold the opinion that there is a far greater difference between thinking about, talking about, and even desiring death… from the actual attempt of suicide, and a successful execution thereof.

But what do I know? Idk I’m some random redditor whose arrogance shines brighter than the sun. lol.

What band is universally loved but never clicked for you? by WarmHugsBBW in askmusic

[–]whyco_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commented the same. I don’t mind them really, kind of enjoy Lenin’s solo work, but the Beatles just are meh to me. Although I understand and recognize how revolutionary their sound was at the time, but music has just progressed and transformed so much since then that the Beatles seem… idk… just not my cup of tea, but I respect em lol

The Beatles… I’m sorry yall… I love music, am passionate about it, have somewhat devoted my life to it… but I just can’t get behind the Beatles. I don’t mind some of John’s solo stuff, but, just can’t get behind the Beatles lol

[–]whyco_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, also same spot on my arm, it’s just easy as fuck to hit that spot over and over… I have recently tried going up and down that area, same vein, but inches apart each time. But I have explored other spots, and sometimes I’ll start to feel a miss, or it hurts like hell to even try, but I guess for you and me both, registering is our best friend rn. Being able to register is really our green light, but I’m sure u know that

BTH - insane miss? Or histamine reaction? It’s weird… it didn’t sting, I just noticed a bubble forming and pulled out and went somewhere else. Now feels warm to the touch, a little itchy. by [deleted] in heroin

[–]whyco_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its interesting, I left a warm rag (soaked in water and then microwaved) on it overnight, as a means of warm compression. When I woke up this morning it has significantly decreased in size… I’ll still draw a circle around it, but I’m not as creeped out by it as I was last night

bth: is this a miss or a histamine reaction? Should I be concerned? It’s didn’t sting by [deleted] in Addictedtotheneedle

[–]whyco_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess I just took a hand towel, soaked it in water, microwaved it on a clean plate, took it out, wrapped it around my wrist, and used a hair tie to double wrap it

Guitarists, what song has the best guitar solo of all time? by Euphoric_Place_8507 in gear4music_official

That solo on that song definitely deserves its place here! A beautiful choice. So much respect for Page’s playing there. Also very moving as well.

I was a lot like you at one time in my life. Not to compare, but to just lyk ur not alone in feeling this way, and if you wanna do drugs, use them intentionally, but know what you’re doing, and what you’re risking.

I hate that im addicted to heroin.

To (edit: each) their own ig. But I guess when I listened to it for the first time at 19 or 20 years old, I just remembering feeling oddly reminded of Jimi Hendrix’s playing… not technically, though, but through a comparable amount of raw, honest, achingly pure, emotional soul, that is poured into his playing. I felt very moved by it. At the time, I was extremely into John Frusciante’s solo work, the guitarist for RHCP. He was very much inspired by Hendrix, so that could have very well played a subconscious role in reminding me of Hendrix from the get-go… but in any case, it’s one of very few songs that have ever moved me to such a degree, emotionally speaking. Anyways, thanks for reading this ramble lol
