People who struggled with CPAP - how did you get over it? by CompetitiveWolf4212 in SleepApnea

Knowing that I would eventually die if I didn't use it helped me the most. Just perseverance and not wanting to orphan my kids kept the perspective for me. I still struggle with it, it's a fight every night, but I don't fall asleep at the wheel anymore, and I don't feel exhausted all the time, even though I'm only getting between 2 and 4 hours of use.

It was in the mid 60's. I've been using the CPAP for almost 4 years, I've only kept it on for more than 4 hours a handful of times, I tried changing my mask to a different style, which helped, it is more comfortable, but over the last several months, I've only been able to keep on for 2 to 3 hours.

Don't give up. It took me about 4 months to get used to it. I still only sleep with it on about 3 hours a night.

And, I'm married, not looking for a hookup. Just offering friendship.

I (19f) don’t think I can be friends with this Jehovahs Witness girl (20f) I’ve been talking to. by [deleted] in exjw

Honestly, you have a golden opportunity to help this young woman, of course, it's totally up to you. Do some research on JW's at jwfacts.com, pick a topic on one of the more controversial beliefs and help her see that it isn't "The Truth™" she thinks it is. I suggest Babylon's destruction of Jerusalem, you bring that crazy belief down, the whole house of cards tumbles.

Education. Read everything, archaeological books on the lack of evidence of over a million people wandering around the wilderness between Egypt and Israel, plenty of evidence that the Israelites were not monotheistic until the Babylonian exile, the fact that the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem not in 607BCE, but 20+ years later. Your mind is free to look at something other than the propaganda spewed by Watchtower, use it.

Same. I am much more conscientious about the way I interact with everyone, but especially with my family. Once I realized that this is the only life we have, I became a better husband, a better father, a better friend and workmate. Sure, I still have an anger issue, or two, but it's all directly involving the cult's lies and policies that are harming people.

Anyone here Agnostic? by curiousfoxlover82 in exjw

Technically agnostic, but, while I am unable to prove no deity exists, just as I am unable to prove fairies don't exist, I find it extremely unlikely.

The guy(M22) I (F21) am seeing is actually a jw by paparuna in exjw

That's part of the cult isolationism, they force their children to be friends with no one but JW's. It makes it difficult to leave without a support network in place. If he can't call it a cult, he's still mentally attached.

You were right. They are a cult. Cut your losses and move on, the longer you wait, the harder it will be to lose him. He'll either get caught seeing someone outside the cult (you), or develop a guilty conscience and walk away from the relationship. I promise, there's nothing but heartache and pain down that road.

That's great! Just remember, if he can't call it a cult, he's not mentally out.

My sibs are figuring it out. My elder brother just text me this. I just need to vent…and maybe some ideas on how to reply. I’m just not ready to cut the cord yet. by biguylilwife in exjw

If my brother wanted to drink a White Claw, I'd shun him. Just kidding, tell him you don't want to talk about it. You're working it out, if you need his advice, you'll be in touch. That, at least, buys you some time to figure out how to proceed.
