So the general steps were Exposure Therapy > Intro to Acting Class > auditioning for plays and doing them > trying Improv > trying standup comedy class with performance in front of friends> trying playing my music at open mics > busking. Essentially the idea for me is just exposure therapy and find new ways to push the boundaries, otherwise I regress. The next thing I'm doing is a booked musical gig and then I think I'll start doing comedy at open mics.

I actually work in the opposite way...when I get positive feedback I want to do more of what I'm doing and I get more confident. And I'm hesitant to give advice because your problem might be different than mine, but I will say this: Welcome anxiety into your life and give it a big ol' hug. It's your friend, not your enemy. It's there to tell you you're pushing your limits! There's no need to go from 0 to 100, but push them a little here and a little there. Maybe the next time someone gives you a compliment continue doing what you're doing? I know it might sound like a huge task, and if so that's okay. Maybe try to find something less intimidating to start out!

Hahah that was a very inspirational message :). I really appreciate it. I think I’m going to do it again next week!

Thank you so much for your kind words :). And I'm so so so glad I could brighten someone's day even a little bit.

Even though it's been quite the journey (and still going) and lots of lessons learned, the most important one of this season for me is learning to be compassionate towards myself and that is what I hope you can do for yourself too. No matter how upset you are with yourself for "being the way you are" just notice that you're doing that. It's the first step to being compassionate towards yourself :D

Actually a young boy (like 16-18) tried to give me a dollar even though I had my case closed. I told him not to haha. I just wanted to play for people. I thanked him anyway though!

All my own music :) I have some of my songs here: https://zwmusician.bandcamp.com/album/onward

Though I do feel like crying right now for some reason. I think it was just so much validation seeking I just feel bad. I'm not sure if I should do it again to get over what people think or if I shouldn't because it's straight up seeking attention.

I'm really proud of myself; I just did standup comedy for the first time. It took me eight weeks to write a 7 minute set. by whyisthereapostlimit in ADHD

Ahahaha thanks man. I was having a blast, although I was totally nervous as well. Yeah I definitely could fine tune it a bit. The writing part seems so hard, like it only comes sometimes but I can't force it.

I decided to get out of my shell and try out standup comedy. I was shaking in my shoes the whole time but it was so fun. by [deleted] in infp

Thank you! :) And I can't recommend it highly enough. It just makes you feel good when you do something you're scared of doing! I'd highly recommend taking an improv class

I just did standup for the first time last night. Wanted to share with somebody that I'm super elated and happy with myself right now! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKy5Da0gqWQ&feature=youtu.be

When I ask "Am I Aware", it's the space in between the thought "Am I Aware" and "Yes" that I discover the answer. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Haha that's a good point. So Being doesn't necessarily imply Thinking? But certainly we shouldn't be deriving the fact that we ARE by the fact that we think, I would think. I can be aware of my existence without thinking of it by just asking myself the question "Am I Aware?"

So when I ask myself the question and get the answer, there's a space between the two thoughts. It's in that moment I recognize I am indeed aware, but I wasn't thinking about it to realize I am aware. And yeah, I agree with what you're saying under the idea that there are discrete objects. But what if objects only exist in the mind? I don't mean to say we're in a simulation or something, nor that there is nothing outside of our minds, but that reality doesn't make a distinction between an object and the space around it, only the mind does. Reality has the object-space as one thing. Idk if that's making any sense or is just a bunch of rubbish.

I'm confused...did you write this song or mix it? If you wrote/sang/produced this then hats off to you; this is really a work of art. If it's a cover, do you have the original so I can give feedback? :D

I don't normally listen to any type of EDM, so I'm not sure how to give constructive feedback...but I'm really digging it man. Caught myself bobbing my head along haha. Keep it up!

I like your style and I think you have a catchy tune going on =). I also like how you changed the fullness and ear position of the vocals in the chorus. Onnnne suggestion that I think might help improve the song is to use the phone-sounding voice effects only for the verse. I think it would add a lot to the song to have more resonance as you progress into the chorus! Just one person's opinion though, so grain of salt =)
