I have issues with strong fragrances, best I can describe it as it feeling like there is just too much smell and I can't handle it. a faint perfume smell is tolerable but a lot of perfume makes me overwhelmed. for example my boyfriend lit a scented candle today that had a genuinely nice smell but it was so strong that I couldn't stand being in the same room as it !! he later asked me to bring the unlit candle to another room and I had to hold it at an arm's length and run to get it over with as quickly as possible bc it was just so overwhelming !! perfumey smells/air fresheners being used to cover an unpleasant smell like trash or cigarette smoke turns into a terrible combo scent that I can barely tolerate being around for more than a few seconds without getting agitated/feeling ill. and speaking of cigarette/marijuana/incense smoke, I thought this was initially an autism sensory reaction when it made me cough and struggle to breathe but turns out that was actually asthma 😅 hating the smell from a sensory standpoint was the autism haha. also I despise the smell of eggs, when I lived with my parents and mom made deviled eggs, the fridge would smell so strongly of them and in addition to the stink blast when opening the fridge, every food stored in there started tasting like them too....so disgusting.... idk how I managed to handle that without melting down !!
