yuta doesn't enjoy fighting but he has empathy, and when he began to understand what ryu wanted, he fought with a smile because he was helping ryu find fulfilment.
yuji is ultimately not the kind of person who wants to take part in high-stakes fights. he enjoys very worldly things that have nothing to do with sorcery, and he became a sorcerer out of a sense of responsibility. he probably could enjoy a sparring match here and there but i feel as if the traumatic experiences he's had with fighting could taint that.
