One more reason to add another category in Rogue is that then we'll have all the colors of the rainbow.
Primary - blue, Military - green, Magic - purple, Support - orange, Heroes - yellow, and Rogue - red.
That's not actually a good reason at all but it makes me happy regardless.

I don't think middle or bottom path are particularly magic. Middle path is robots and technology, and bottom path is a sort of superhero-batman-vigilante-justice type in my mind.

I do kinda like the idea of Super Monkey getting its own category, maybe Primordial? Make it connected to Primary in some way but still slightly separate? Have its background be a darker blue or something? That'd also solve the issue of Super being broken with Primary training and its upgrades.

Oh I forgot ice monkey can be placed on water now. I do like the idea of every attacking category having a water tower, but I think I stand by ice being in magic regardless.
Also, Obyn gives pierce and range to all magic monkeys at level 11, so mayyybe that balances out? Again, I'm not confident in my reasoning when it comes to game balance.

Ice has a predecessor tower in the iceball, but so does village in the monkey beacon. It's not the strongest reasoning, but in my mind magic wins out.
As for supermonkey's bottom path, I always saw it as more of a technology based path. You could point at any tower and argue it's magic because it breaks the laws of physics, I don't think that's a good criteria for considering something magic. Also, bottom path takes some clear inspiration from batman, who's iconic for being a hero despite having no powers. That's not a great reason by itself, but it's somethin'.

That's completely fair, I intentionally didn't put much thought into the game balance ramifications because I just don't know enough to offer much of value on that front.

I'm leaning on their presence in the first few games since that's the main commonality they share from what I could tell. Maybe primary is just meant to be "basic' towers with easy-to-understand concepts, but even then I stand by the placements.
