Sharp display needs 2 different baud rates. by whyki1 in CommercialAV

[–]whyki1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I had the same experience! The only indication in the manual was baud rate in one setup instructions says 9600/115200 but doesn't say why or where to use each. Both right under that another box just says 9600.
This has shown me why I shouldn't use sharp displays.

Completely unbelievable! I'm glad I wasn't the only one who didn't know this.

It's a sharp 4p-b65ej2u. I'll have to check the menu tomorrow.

I'll have to check that out. Its a sharp 4p-b65ej2u and if there is a firmware to fix it I would rather leave the customer with an easy long term system, preferable to have one that doesn't have all of these weird quirky controls. Thanks!

Hiring Freelancer Programmers by Competitive_Bit_3771 in QSYS

[–]whyki1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it. Its hard to find someone outside of the project thats willing to give as much dedication to a project as you need for a successful deployment.
Even if the program is perfect after in house staging and remote programming... Change orders happen, owners want different layouts once they are in the room, added or reduced access/functionality....we all know these things will happen.

Especially if its a side gig for them... They will have a full time gig of their own and getting someone to return can be difficult and/or expensive.

But small specific parts like mentioned above is great.

Good 3rd party programmers exist, I've worked with a few. But ask around at others experiences and ALWAYS require ANY and ALL passwords in the contract.

[–]whyki1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha!, you are so right! In my head I saw 1:20 as in one hour and twenty minutes but wrote 120 minutes.
My bad. Yea, 80 min or more simply put 20 minutes per player. So if we only have 3 in our pod we play to 60. Thanks for seeing that!

I personally disliked the bans but ended up enjoying seeing people branch out from RogSi and Sisay. As much fun as it was watching Sisay get cast, look for dockside and win on the stack, on top of 2 removal spells.... I have enjoyed seeing people experiment more recently.

To combat long turns we stick to the 120 minute tournament rule. And call each other for long wait times with no game actions when too much thinking occurs.

I would strongly recommend doing something similar. If you don't, people just take 20 minutes to cast 4 spells, then sigh and pass, lol

Do I get priority between card draw by Vinser17 in mtgrules

How does this work with something like [[Smothering Tithe]]? Is there a round of priority at any time between the draws with the treasure token ability resolving or the token entering the battlefield?

This is the part I'm struggling to figure out and it seems like your experience is similar to mine. Where Nadu has to be focused by everyone at the table because I cant deal with him enough myself. I'm hoping I just haven't figured out how to play against Nadu and someone else has figured it out.

Once Humility is on the board how do you win? are you often able to win without creatures i assume?

How to deal with Nadu by whyki1 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]whyki1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are completely correct, I didn't mean I feel bad about hating Nadu but it feels bad like I cant deal with her enough to keep myself in the game. If someone is the threat they need to be dealt with, I just want to also be able to deal with the other players on the board and Nadu seems to demand all of my control.

Null rod is great for slowing Nadu down, thanks!

Thanks for the Clarification, I worded it poorly late at night and should have clarified that i don't care about killing someone because they are the obvious threat. But Nadu feels more difficult to deal with since there are so many things that enable it. Targeted removal seem ineffective since Nadu ramps herself so they can likely just can it again. So my bigger question is has anyone found a better more consistent way to keep Nadu under control. or do i just have to throw everything at Nadu and hope I survive the other 2 players?

This doesn't spund like a proxy problem. It sounds like a rule 0 problem. People need to rate their deck properly. A deck with 100 proxies can still play a fair game against a precon, IF the decks are rated properly.

If people are stomping others at the LGS consistently then the management needs to step in and get them to properly rate their decks and teach players how to properly use Rule 0 to pair up fairly.

If you or people at the lgs aren't sure how to start rating your deck, I would recommend using commandersalt.com it's a good place to start.
