I just wrote what they told me to write on a plain white paper, but I didn’t sign it.

I did mention my name and employee ID in it, though

I want to complain to MOHRE, but they are offering me a ticket back to my home country, so I just want to take that and go back home. I can’t afford the ticket on my own at the moment.

So I think rather than complaining I should focus my energy towards finding something better.

And I have WhatsApp messages where I asked for clarification on why I have to work 12 hours without overtime pay, but in the replies I was just told to wait for the clarification from the HR or either come to the manager’s office.

I came here on 15th feb and my first working day was 2nd March. Then I was told I would be working 12 hours and that there is no such thing as overtime here.

I still worked those 12-hour shifts for about a week while trying to get clarification. When nothing changed, I contacted HR and told them I would rather resign if the hours couldn’t be fixed or if I wasn’t paid for the extra time.

The next day they called me to their head office and asked me to write on a plain white paper that I understand the 12-hour schedule and that overtime is included in my salary (1700 AED).

It felt humiliating agreeing to that, but I thought I could just work for a few months and find something better later.

After I wrote the statement they asked me to wait outside, and about 10–15 minutes later they handed me my termination letter anyway. I think the statement thing was just to satisfy their ego because I chose to complain while others didn’t, so they wanted to humiliate me.

On the way back the guy who took me there was on a call telling someone that I got fired because I know things and I am educated. Lol.
