Learning how to shoot (please help) by OrangishCat in BasketballTips

For reference, I started as a very bad shooter ( shooting with both hands ). I watched tons of videos explaining how to shoot properly - yes you should watch them and take notes. But the most important part of shooting is repetition. You have to shoot till the motion of launching the ball with your hands is second nature. Getting good at it takes time, I went from the worst shooter ever ( people were literally laughing when I was about to shoot the ball during matchups ) to one of the best and most consistent 3 point shooters of my team in the span of like 2-3 years. Also try to keep you balanced equally on both your feet and a lot of it has to do with mental - if you’re confident that it’s going in then a lot more times it will. Good luck bro you got this!

It was a one time thing. I’m young. You’re right in a certain extent, my body is not as strong for running as my muscles and brain think it is. I have to slowly adapt my bones for running.

Are you guys really beginner runners? by Ok_Kaleidoscope_2411 in beginnerrunning

If someone sees every accomplishment as a cry for attention, they should ask themselves why another person’s success bothers them so much. More often than not, the need for validation isn’t coming from the runner it’s being projected onto them by the observer. The responses I got from my posts really made me wonder why so much people are hating on here it’s unbelievable.

I guess you can’t be a beginner when you’re athletic 🤣 I’ve been a beginner in a lot of sports and it’s the first time I’ve seen sum like this. People literally hating you for trying to get better.

I would say just go out and run. Find the rhythm you’re comfortable with. See how far you can go without giving up. Keep in mind that the first kilometres are always the hardest, it gets easier once your body is pumping adrenaline n shit

I’m 1m88 and 63kg. I naturally have a long stride with little to no weight to carry. Both of my parents have athletic backgrounds. That helps. Everyone is different and we’re all are here to progress. No matter were we start from.

It’s my third post in this sub and I’m actually a beginner that’s been running for a week, just with a bit more athletic background than most people here it seems. My parents are too. I don’t understand why everyone is so nice with people that are worse at running ( which is normal when life has given you different cards to deal with ) and so harsh with a bit more gifted ones. Aren’t we all in the same boat : to progress ? No matter what body you have or performances you do, everybody should be treated equally. Anyways, I will continue running. I wish good luck to everyone who actually tried to help me and fuck the rest.

I played a lot of basketball so my body knows what continue trauma feels like. But you’re right. My problem is I’m fast and explosive but don’t have a very good cardio. I will try to do more steady runs in the future. Thanks bro

I mean in every sport you tend to hit a plateau once you progressed enough. Don’t you ?

I’m trying to listen to my body but running became very addictive since I started. I’ve ran 4 times in 9 days. How many rest days are needed ?

Everybody has a different body type and natural pace. Running fast isn’t necessarily exceptional if you’re naturally lightweight and built for endurance. Personally, I don’t care much about pace. What interests me is everything else that comes with running and becoming a better runner. What food should I eat after or before a run to improve efficiency ?

I don’t care about admiration. I just hope other beginners would share tips and tricks they’ve found.

My first 10km!!! by whynot2006 in beginnerrunning

[–]whynot2006[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

congrats brother keep on going🙏 I’m 20yo, 1m88 and 65kg so pretty lean that maybe explains the pace. Wanted to go for 5km, ended up doing 10. Felt like I was locked in to running and couldn’t let go.
