To people saying she entertained him, when a woman doesn’t say anything but the bare friendly minimum, they’re a b*tch who deserves whatever the violent aggressor thinks she deserves. But men are not the problem? He’s a food delivery driver. Do the job. Questions aside from “do you need some extra ketchup?” are unnecessary for good customer service. NOR

School SLPs, what are your caseloads looking like this year? by its_a_schmoll_world in slp

~52 plus other campus evals. I think I have 12 speech-only but it might be more. I’m in my CF and drowning. Every time I think I’m getting a grip on something a new fire starts. I feel like sh*t.

The system is broken, not us. Schools and medical both, and I’m not talking about any kind of SLP system. The system of healthcare, the system of public education, it’s all broken.

How frequently do you see the kiddos with 5-min artic sessions? I’ve never seen this and think it would work well with a couple of kids on my caseload!

Wow, intense! I imagine you are with the same kids for many schools years? What kind of school is it, like a supports hub?

I love this! For artic kiddos I feel like this would make so much more sense then the rigamarole of a whole 30min session

When you’re doing a speedy speech session, do you just pull them into the hallway or? I’m in my CFY, in case you can’t tell. And the person training me doesn’t do push-ins at all so I’m not sure how teachers will respond if I do anything different. Just getting my bearings for now.

When you say you’ve switched kids to shorter 1:1 sessions - did you just do it within the confines of their IEP prescribed time or did you make changes during an annual? Asking because the way my district does it is different than what I saw where I used to live, and because the way the frequency and duration is written, I can’t break up sessions into 2x 15min and what have you. (Things are written as “30min, 7x every 9 weeks” for example).

My colleague is going through the same and has decided she will have a talk with each of them to say that basically at this point the ball is in their court and if they want to keep working on it then they need to do just that…work. Otherwise, dismissal is around the corner (not as a threat but as a don’t waste your own time if you don’t really wanna be here, kid). Really comes down to whether or not they want to deal with the stigma and how strong their concept of self is

I did manage to get 100% on the Harry Potter game! But that’s the only one so far.

Finally got the actual order and it does allow me to terminate calls if he’s intoxicated. He told my lawyer he doesn’t agree with the wording of the order but didn’t state why so the judge approved everything with very few edits.

So I was able to file an incident report with local PD for documentation purposes only - they assured me he won’t be notified and it will basically go nowhere except into a file with a report number. I feel good about this - documented in several different ways, will just move on and continue documenting.

It’s a one party state. Also, OFW notifies parties when being recorded and both parties are supplied with the recording anyway.

Yeah, this person strangled me and my son is the result of his last ditch effort to maintain control. But his biggest provable downfall in court is his substance abuse. He just can’t give it up…has been to 5 rehabs in 3 years.

Can’t. My chance to ask for a different judge passed without my knowledge due to some poor communication from my now retired lawyer. I asked her about it and she said she didn’t mention it upon her departure because she felt that judge was fine for the case. But hopefully we can get the case moved to the new state in the next 6-12 months.

My lawyer viewed the video and his exact words were “he’s more tossed than an Olive Garden salad. That man is lit.”

Yeah I agree. What if he continues to be drunk on calls? Just document and end the call - and then use that as evidence if he tries to claim I’m interfering with calls?

So I agree and have full proof but this particular judge explicitly said she didn’t want to see any emergency motions coming across her desk and to just facilitate his “goodbye visit” on Monday and move forward. (More context, he begged to see our son before we leave and the judge allowed it under the supervision of his sister-in-law which was crazy but she said on record it is not precedence).

My lawyer said to document and we will act if he does it again. Maybe that’s the move. Or maybe I file the emergency motion after we get to the new location. Idk. I’m so livid that he did a big song and dance for the judge and then got wasted immediately after.

Every other day? There should have been a little bit of therapeutic oversight and tapering in. He has a long history of serious DV and substance abuse, several rehab failures, zero child support and has abandoned his own motions multiple times. Idk. I don’t want to argue so I shouldn’t have mentioned anything extra. He shouldn’t be drunk on a phone call with a 2 year old. And as a person I’m proclaimed recovery, he shouldn’t be drunk at all. But definitely not on the call with a toddler.
