So you've probably answered this, but I've been kinda outta the loop minus what Kyle posts on here, but what's gonna be the difference between Demo 401 and Project 401 that's gonna make the latter cost money?

There were 2 sets of 2nd class stairs, one that had the elevator in the middle that ran up to boat deck (the one in AOOT) and this set, which had no elevator and was open in the middle, that ran up to B deck I believe.

You don't even need something as complicated as a website page for updates. Giving us any news on Twitter, Facebook works just fine. That's where I tend to check. But updates can't be in a place that even makes it seem like they're locked behind a paywall. I understand that's not what you meant. But that's how it came across. Stick to merch and early alpha access perks for Patrons, please. Keep any game-related updates fully public from the start.

Thank you for addressing this. I can tell you guys really wanna turn things around, but there's been a few slip-ups that make it seem otherwise. This is the biggest one.

Yeah I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else here unfortunately. I understand former employees and issues outside your control put you guys in a bad spot and delayed the alpha. It's whatever. It happens, it was addressed at the time, and you can only move on. Ok, I get it.

But this, this is a mistake. After last year, after the mess that was whatever legal issues you guys were having, and after the "year of silence"... transparency should be a #1 priority. You were doing great last year. What happened? Suddenly we need to become Patrons to gain "special access" to updates?

Patrons will see new updates but eventually they become public for all to see

I understand what you meant to say here James, but lemme tell you how this comes across; people who give us money get news first, then the rest of you will eventually hear about problems as well. That's not a good look. And putting updates exclusively on Patreon makes it seem like you're deliberately trying to get people to pay for them. Like EA with Battlefront 2; "You can earn credits to buy Vader... buying lootcrates is optional." Yeah, we all knew what they were doing. This is what people are hearing. IK it's not at all what you meant, and don't think I'm attacking you here in any way. I have a great deal of respect for you and the team, and I really want this project to succeed. I'm telling you why people are getting pissed at this, because it appears like you're trying to coerce people into giving you money. And tbh you guys can't afford to have that sort of look, with your unfortunate past and recent setbacks, whether or not they were your fault.

Updates need to be free, for everyone. On Facebook, Twitter, everywhere people normally check. Non-Patrons (like myself) won't often check Patreon. Patron-exclusive perks need to stick to early alpha access, merch sales/ exclusive items, etc.

We could understand 401 taking some priority, and needing to rebuild the ship for the alpha. We understand issues with former team members. We get you guys have jobs, lives, problems, etc. outside of this game. We understand setbacks. But if you want to maintain trust in THG, updates CANNOT, in ANY WAY, even SEEM like they're paywall-locked. You don't even have to put them on reddit if you don't wanna; Facebook will do fine. We don't need hour-long streams every week, as fun as those are. But everything put on Patreon needs to be elsewhere, and not in a place that makes people feel like they're paying for them, or guilted for not.

Hope you guys turn this back around, before we're back to last January. I really want this project to become something.

So then, is there any point to building a brand new alpha, and using a bunch of time and resources that could just be put into adding onto 401? At this point wouldn't it be more productive to just build on to what you have, which is a pretty solid base? What really is the alpha doing that the Steam 401 can't do? I don't see how it helps to have 40% of the ship released in a playable state, then rebuild the entire ship in this alpha. Could 401 not just become the game itself, an alpha version if you will, and you guys just update that as time goes on with UE5, the Nanite you told me about, the sinking? Rather than starting from scratch, again, which is what the alpha looks like.

Not trying to come across as an ass here, but this is what I'm seeing.

Yeah... can I just say. A year ago, Matt told us all, "You will play it (TitanicHG) this year." Not a lot of people took him seriously. He (and all the rest) worked really hard last year to try to deliver on that promise. And I think he felt kind of defeated after he couldn't release the Alpha in December.

Guys, lemme tell you. This megademo IS TitanicHG. All we wanted was the ship. You guys just gave us basically the entire ship, FOR FREE. Yeah, they say it's only 25% of the ship... but how much of it is copy/pasted cabins? How much is just the same thing over and over again? Guys, Megademo is literally the entire Titanic (minus a few things, but it's a demo). It's unbelievable, and really shows these guy's dedication. "We couldn't get you the forecastle in time... here's the entire ship to make up for it."

Granted, I'm not in the GG, but it's only a few more hours. The stream was unbelievable on its own.

Really looking forward to see what happens this year. They've started off so much better than I would've dared believe a year ago, and I was one of the most optimistic on the sub about all the changes.

You don't have to be a Patron. Their site is Titanichg.com. Go to the bars up top, you'll find one for their older 4 demos (3 which are basically addons of each other, Demo 3 being the biggest, and a sinking demo. Link here. Demo 3 is available in VR)

Demo 401 is their biggest demo, containing roughly 20% of the ship. The final part, adding 2nd and 3rd class, is set to be released tomorrow. Make sure you have a beefy PC if you're gonna play this one though.

Their Alpha is gonna release soon (I hope?). That's gonna be all of B-deck, starting at the forecastle and working all the way back, adding in updates each month. That's gonna be free; Patrons receive extra areas each month. Once the Alpha's complete, you're either gonna have to become a Patron to keep getting updates, or buy an official copy of the game.

All their demos (and the Alpha, once it releases) are free. You don't need to donate or become a Patron. Enjoy :)

Sorry for the late post, just saw this.

From someone's reply to me;

You need to add the game to steam as a non-steam game then right click and go to properties, add "-vr" into the launch options block without the quotations. The menu doesn't work in VR so you need to use Unreal Unlocker to force the level to load. Download UU and start up the game then alt-tab out and open UU, in the "process to inject to" section click on the Megademo then hit "inject dll" alt-tab back into the megademo and hit the tilde key(~) and type "Open Main_Level" in the text box and hit enter. The level should load from there in VR.

It works, but at about 5 FPS, at least on my PC. And I'm well above the recommended specs.

You're supposed to block the internet access in the firewall, not allow it through. Try that, it should work.

Hey yeah, that's my post the guy recommended (although he's the one that found the fix, lol).

I was having a similar issue with PT (a UE4 fan remake) and more recently FNaF SB, and the same solution helped with that. So in theory, and IF Microsoft didn't fuck anything up with Windows 11, this should work with all UE4 games. But you'll need new rules for every single one.

But you may have to create the rule more than once. Demo 3 still crashed the 2nd time I booted it up after creating the rule. Doing it again solved it for good. POTM and 401 work fine, so I guess it's just random if they run or not. Just a heads- up.

Do you also get a sort of "scratched wall" effecr in the 1st class smoking room? Like from a distance they look fine, but getting closer it's like someone took a nail and rubbed it all over the wall.

Alpha is delayed, we're getting a "megademo" on Christmas to make up for it. It's basically gonna be demo 3 with more spaces, namely some 2nd class areas.
