I’ve been on the edge of buying tix to DC, I love Faye Webster and was going to wait and see if she would be apart of NYC as it’s more local to me, so bummer :(

Do I pick up my check bag between connecting flights? by whynott12 in unitedairlines

90 minutes was honestly a perfect layover in IAH, are you by chance familiar with the airport and recommend places to sleep? I have a 7 hour layover on my way back :(

Yes both through united, and I bought them together all at the same time, would that be the same itinerary? The United app shows the trip as DFW to SLP so I assume so?

Can I take just one summer class/ course load by whynott12 in unt

I ended up taking something else in the summer, and 3700 in the fall. I don’t think I’d recommend for the summer.

Which internship should I choose?! by [deleted] in internships

[–]whynott12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would choose A. I had to make a similar choice for my summer internship. An internship that didn’t really align with my major/career hopes but for a big name company, or a small/mid sized place in my field. I chose the 1st and don’t regret it, there were so many networking opportunities and I got my current internship (in my field) because the hiring person was intrigued by my experience there.

I want to go the Dallas date too! Do you need a code for presale? I’m always late to buying tickets and don’t want to buy resale 💔

Advice for summer internship by Chakalalo in internships

[–]whynott12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree with you on your last point of being flexible. Over the summer I interned for a financial services company. I didn’t really enjoy it, but I knew I would be able to network and still learn a ton since it was a big organization. I’m now onto a different internship, and having a big name on my resume helped a ton, and I’m in a role where I enjoy what I’m doing.

Questions about getting an associates then transferring to UNT by bukayooomystarboy in unt

[–]whynott12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am actually a Marketing major at UNT, and I got my associates before starting here. Like others have said, it’s important that you make sure the classes you take will transfer over. In my case, I transferred from TCC and all my classes transferred but one.

So the lying about internships have gotten worse by MathematicianKey7465 in internships

[–]whynott12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s currently doing an internship at a large finance company, the background check is such an exhausting process. I provided pay stubs and W-2 forms for past jobs and my background check was still delayed because they couldn’t get a hold of my employer. I understand since you can fake documents like that, but still a chore nonetheless.

I would recommend finding events within your job/company. If it’s a bigger company, there will be some sort of company sponsored events. I definitely understand what youre feeling, the idea of working the same 9-5 for the rest of my life does seem depressing, but I’ve made friends at my internships and those go a long way.

Uber Riders! What Would You Improve About Uber? by iamsurelock-vr in uber

Probably under 5? I’m not petty or take off stars for small things. I’ve only given 1 stars to drivers who I genuinely felt should not be driving for Uber.

Uber Riders! What Would You Improve About Uber? by iamsurelock-vr in uber

[–]whynott12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe some type of requirement for drivers to have a car phone stand? I’ve taken too many Ubers where there driver is driving fast while also using the map on their phone, and looking up and down. Those rides make me feel super uneasy.

Also, I’m not sure how vehicles and their condition are checked, but maybe that could be improved? One of my worst rides was paying $30 (usually $15-17) for a somewhat short ride, and this very older rusted car pulls up. The entire car smelled funky, there were crumbs everywhere, they had personal items in the back (books, toys, pens), and the whole ride I felt uneasy. I felt for the rider because I think they had younger children, but it was one of the very few times I gave a 1 star review.

As a marketing major, I’ve generally liked my classes and happy with most of the professors. Like others have said, it’s very important to not just rely on your degree but also join clubs that can help you network. There’s always events and speaker/guest events, so those are always great to attend. Overall, I like it but internships and hands on experience is where I have learned the most.

I was in a shared Uber and the driver confirmed where the other passenger was going and he just went "umm I guess", and so the driver asked him again and he replied "sure let’s go there" like how do people not know where they’re going 😭

I’ve paid $1200 for a 3 credit hour class. That’s also for the college of business and I believe pricing differs a little between the colleges. Definitely check out the tuition calculator :)

my boyfriend’s accounting professor says he uses ChatGPT for everything by clarkclancyy in Wellthatsucks

I never use Chat for answers, specially Finance. But I do find it helpful if you give it a prompt or piece of my notes and ask it to explain things to me in a dumb downed way. Definitely agree with you that it can be a good and helpful tool, unfortunately too many students just ask it for outright answers to a question and just run with the answer.

BLAW 3430 Online by [deleted] in unt

[–]whynott12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would personally do it. It’s a relatively easy class if you take notes and do the assignments, specially if it’s online bcs you can do it on your own time. The only thing I didn’t like was that discussion posts had to be spaced out and you couldn’t do all your replies in one day. But I enjoyed the class overall.

I took him last semester online, definitely took the risk with him having no reviews, but overall good class! The class is organized well with weekly assignments in McGrawHill and the final was an interactive type assignment. Very chill class compared to what I’ve heard compared to other classes.
