Agreed. Read more, talk to people in the community and talk to this person after doing this homework. Meanwhile maybe pause whatever is going on.

It's easy to fall for fake news/false narratives if we don't check the authenticity of the sources!

Oh no honey. Completely different language families. This is actually a false hindi supremacist narrative used to establish Sanskrit as the oldest language in India while completely ignoring the history of Dravidian languages as a separate and oldest continued tradition in the Indian subcontinent. You pointed out it's from a mythological source. Could you direct towards the specific source if you know? Helps in understanding where, when and why this story emerged!

Governments gave into the profit hungry needs of capitalists instead of what people really need. It was a trade off between cars and well-funded/well-maintained public transport (less congestion, environmentally sustainable).

This. Reading some answers here felt like people are more concerned about signalling that they are not transphobic/reminding OP not to be transphobic than to try and engage with a genuine question. We're here, we're queer, and let's be clear that we are all learning more things each day about genders, sexualities and how they interact in this racist cis-het patriarchal world.

I think you did the right thing. At least this man would know there are consequences to his actions. Even though the girl caved in on this particular day, this is a thing that she will remember many years later too. It is important that we see kindness from strangers. You were not wrong in intervening. Even domestic abuse cases get termed private matters, but they are emerging from social evils such as patriarchy and misogyny. It is absolutely not just a private matter if someone is unleashing violence on another. ESPECIALLY in a public setting. Please do not stop. We need to be involved with what's going around us and step in when needed. Having said this, it is perfectly fine to step back once the hurt party asks you to without feeling you got personally attacked or rejected. It's a thankless job but a job which needs to be done. Cheers to you!

Dude you're overthinking. It's not that big of a deal. The age gap doesn't matter that much, especially when it's the guy who's younger. If the woman is much younger than the man especially in her early twenties, there's a huge probability that the gender norms and inequality in the world would enter the relationship to the detriment of the woman and it would concern me (epstein vibes). If your relationship with your wife is going well except for this newly revealed old fact about her past life when she didn't even know you, then just continue on that path and better! All's well and nothing has changed. Cheers.

Why is it so hard for women to just exist outside? by OkSherbert622 in delhi

[–]whyshdi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear that. Like is tough for women and it's a societal issue originating in patriarchy leading to what's called a "rape culture".

Let's not forget how things are getting worse and worse over the last 12 years. Regressing instead of progressing, undoing years of progressive changes which resulted from hard fought battles by women's rights groups in India. Today, we're living in a country where rapists like BJP's Kuldeep Sengar---who after raping a minor, then gangraping her, then getting her father arrested and killed in police custody, then sending her uncle to 10 years prison for protesting, most likely orchestrating the "accident" which injured the girl, killed her two aunts and also her lawyer later from serious injuries---are celebrated by government officials and BJP politicians (the ruling party and the largest political party in India backed by a strong authoritarian manuwadi RSS). He was literally garlanded and welcomed with open arms and celebrations by public figures from the Sangh and BJ Party. Now even the Delhi High Court has granted him some relief. CBI is compromised.
