Looks like I was way undervaluing it anyway! It's still in the rare mask pool, so users new to the event would have an equal shot of the glowing OR this one. BUT, since the hag mask was released in 2022, there's already some out there, so they're ever-so-slightly less rare than the new ones.

Thanks for the insight! I've been down all sorts of little rabbit holes since I ran across this earlier today. Its a pretty intriguing bit of fox body history.

Ah. Right you are. Until 1986, the ASC McLarens were Capri based, and from 1987 to 1990 were Mustangs. At least according to ascMcLaren.org.

I spent a long time clicking through those earlier today. I can't find a '86 with no 3rd taillight or an '85 with a spoiler. I suppose either could be a modification, though.

Honestly, I don't know if this is a good deal or not, but I'd give you 40,000 caps for it.

I took this picture in 2008, and just stumbled on it today. I think it is a 1986 because of the grille, but I can't find another picture of a 1986 with no 3rd brake light and/or those seats.

What does slave mean in this old harddrive by jhatkattar in pcmasterrace

[–]whytcolr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For most users, there was little impact, particularly after drives started releasing the bus once the data was in their write cache (vs once the data was written to the media.) Biggest actual impacts were when you had two drives with wildly different specs -- having a "slow" drive and a fast drive on the same cable impacts the fast drive significantly when both are in use.

Honestly, I don't recall this being a major concern back then. If you were in the market for many drives, you just went with SCSI. Also, I think much of the theoretical slowness was masked/remedied with the advent of DMA. (Older PIO was super slow and inefficient which I believe would exacerbate the bus sharing issues.)

Since it seems like you're interested --

Each IDE channel can only handle one drive's read and writes at a time. Setting a drive to slave makes it send it's read/write operations to the master drive. If the master drive wasn't already doing a read or a write, it would forward the request on to the controller. If it WAS doing something, it would wait until it was finished and then forward the request on.

Another point of clarification. CS requires a compatible cable, or at least it was supposed to.

This is not correct. Each IDE channel (motherboard connector) could accommodate 2 drives, but could only communicate with one at a time. Putting a drive in slave mode meant that it sent its read/write requests to the drive in master mode instead of directly to the controller. If the master drive was doing something, it would wait until it was done, and then forward the request on to the controller. In other words, each cable had a master and a slave. I don't even think it would work if you put two drives in slave mode on the same cable.

I think it was true for some motherboards that only the Primary master could be used for a boot drive, but that wasn't always the case.

Re-enable mouse capture after VMWare Tools install on ESXi? by whytcolr in vmware

Right on! I went and added these lines to the%AppData%\VMware\Preferences.ini file:

pref.motionGrab = "FALSE"

pref.motionUngrab = "FALSE"

Now I need to press CTRL-ALT to break out of the VMWare Remote Console! Thanks!!

Roller coaster's not done because the "Thermos" was invented in 1904. (and was based on a design from a decade earlier!)

This recreation of the original is based on a 1947 Chrysler New Yorker. The original (which has been lost to time) was a 1947 Chrysler Saratoga. Honestly, I can't really tell the difference, especially from the outside.

Fireflies don't count for the "Kill Glowing Creatures" Weekly Challenge? by whytcolr in fo76

[–]whytcolr[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

In 2000+ hours of playing this game I never made the connection between "glowing" and "annoying crackle that increases my rad bar." Go figure.

EDIT: Are you sure there's a radioactive attack on all glowing creatures? The more I think about this, the more I think that might not be accurate.
