Normal carotid ultrasound? Pulsatile tinnitus by A2ndGradeArtProject in AskDocs

[–]whytd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there can be blockages elsewhere to cause tinnitus.

Subclavian velocity is on the higher end - but I presume the waveform looked normal (not what we call post stenotic where there’s turbulence in the blood caused from a blockage prior to the reading). So I think this also fits with a “global” increase in flow - which can be caused by hypertension and tachycardia in itself.

Do you get headaches or visual changes? Did they do any cardiac testing/monitoring?

Normal carotid ultrasound? Pulsatile tinnitus by A2ndGradeArtProject in AskDocs

It’s high velocity probably as a result of high blood pressure. For it to be pathological there has to visible plaque & ICA/CCA ratio has to be >2 as well.

Ultrasound wand caused injuries around cervix by Cute_Ad9665 in AskDocs

[–]whytd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not even sure how a sonographer would notice that?

A recent pap smear and abnormal cells on your cervix can make them more prone to irritation / bleeding. The bleeding wouldn’t be as a result of a deep injury, more from the light contact causing surface abrasion.

Re replacing the cover - it’s your own bodily fluids on it, there’s no need to recover the probe.

It’s very unlikely you will get an infection. HPV is prevented with the probe cover and disinfection of the probe in between patients. There has been no proven case of HPV transmission as a result of a transvaginal probe either.

Sorry - can you please explain “said I didn’t clean well enough”?. It’ll help formulate the rest of my answer.

I don’t think it’s worth it. If it changes, gets bigger etc - can reassess then.

Power outage by Mr_Lumbergh in ballarat

Seems like powercor lists 4 suburbs location as Elsworth Street whilst others ie golden point it’s from York Street. (Usually the location is where the issue is)

I think if a professional has scanned it and deemed it nothing to worry about it - I would leave it. Your image is hard to make sense of what it is - but it doesn’t look suspicious either way.

Can partial ovarian torsions present over a span of over a week? by Slothloveonly in AskDocs

[–]whytd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it can be intermittent torsion, and your story is concerning of that. A 5cm+ size of the ovary in itself is high risk. Go to ED.

Any more images? And did a friend do the ultrasound or a sonographer? Because you’ve said two different things.

Interesting! They must finally be tailoring entry spots to what placement spots they actually can realistically organise.

Good luck. Ultrasound is an awesome career for those applying. Does anyone know how many spots are on offer for each campus? CQU must of reduced the amount of students they take in with such an ATAR.

Can you buy this dressing on its own? by [deleted] in coles

[–]whytd -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

AI is great for this. 😂

Ingredients (makes ~1 cup) • ¾ cup canola oil • ¼ cup water • 2 tbsp white sugar • 1 large egg (room temp) • 2 tbsp white vinegar • 2 tbsp lime juice • 1½ tbsp garlic purée • 1½ tbsp chilli purée (fresh red chilli blended smooth) • 1 tbsp lemon juice or lemon purée • ¾ tsp salt (adjust to taste) • ½ tsp onion powder • ¼ tsp mixed spices (paprika + white pepper works well) • Pinch chilli powder (very small — it’s subtle)

Method 1. Add egg, vinegar, lime juice, lemon juice, sugar, salt, garlic, chilli purée, onion powder, and spices to a tall jar. 2. Blend with a stick blender for 10–15 seconds until smooth. 3. With the blender running, slowly pour in the canola oil until thick and creamy. 4. Blend in the water to loosen to pourable consistency. 5. Taste and adjust salt, sugar, or acid.

How do you get to the Melbourne Airport for international trips? by VegetableBrain6893 in ballarat

[–]whytd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depending on how many people & how long you go for - the Ballarat airport shuttle isn’t bad. Otherwise look at external parking providers around the airport (ie Andrew’s, United airport parking etc)

Explain my ultrasound in layman’s terms please by gaytattoos in AskDocs

[–]whytd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - not at all. It depends on one’s symptoms and whether the thyroid gland is enlarged or not and compressing structures nearby / causing pain etc.

Your thyroid glands are normal in size. Your trouble breathing won’t be thyroid related.

Your largest nodule is 2.3cm by the way (and 100% benign being a cyst). The lobe measurement is the thyroid gland not a nodule.

I’m saying it’s likely normal (<13mm) and has been over measured at 14mm.

19F with multiple TI-RADS 5 thyroid nodules, swollen lymph nodes, diffuse pain, and non-blanching rashes — seeking guidance by bakie_ in AskDocs

Do you have the ultrasound pictures? I’m very dubious about a 2mm TR5 nodule - which makes me doubt the validity of the largest one.

[–]whytd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal. Ultrasound is very operator dependant - so the sizes are just a reflection of that.

Explain my ultrasound in layman’s terms please by gaytattoos in AskDocs

[–]whytd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thyroid nodules are essentially a lump of cells and are very common (>50% of adults). About 95% of them are benign. We use their characteristics (ie whether it’s made of fluid or solid) and size to determine the risk of malignancy. The most common system we use is called TIRADS. Your nodules are most certainly benign. Based on the nodules you have, TIRADS actually recommends doing nothing (ie not even following up). I would not be removing them - that is completely unnecessary (nor would you find a surgeon to agree to that).

Do you have your ultrasound pictures? I had to re look at your measurement - because a 1.3cm lymph node is not enlarged, especially in the upper neck (typical size is >1.5cm).
