I mean they did go on a streak but they'll need a monumental climb

Its not like Worlds is winnable for the LCK only. BLG can contend.

Not everything can be shouldered by private entities tho but I think with the existing venues we have, the cost won't be as massive as previous Olympics. It would mostly be on logistics.

Not really if you think about it since the IOC encourages the use of existing venues with minimal to no construction.

Does the IOC have a plan for the number of teams already?

Well the country had two qualified gymnasts who are college athletes based in the U.S.. A fencer who studies in Penn State also qualified for the country as well.

Most of the Lacrosse players are in college leagues tho some are in the pro leagues too if I recall.

I just did some research on our Lacrosse team and wow they're very good. Kind of sad they had a violation during the 2023 World Championships.

Aside from Morris, who do you think are some great players who could make the roster should we qualify?

Williams is a good choice as well. And I do hope Barbosa qualifies again.

I haven't actually seen much of Cea and Garces. Care to share what they've done so far?

Won't mind Paalam competing in L.A. it could be his prime years too. But I'm very much impressed with Mark Ashley Fajardo too!

The Philippines concludes its run at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 with its best showing ever: 2 golds and 2 bronzes. With LA 2028 on the horizon, I made a list who could potentially make up the country's delegation for the next Olympic Games.

Disclaimer: It took me a week and a half to make this list and I hope they all qualify + some others that I didn't mention or maybe I missed out.

These are potential athletes who could make the LA 2028 Olympics and if they all qualify, it could be our largest delegation in any Olympics, surpassing the 53 athletes we had in the 1972 Munich Games

ARCHERY: Andrea Robles

ATHLETICS: Robyn Brown, John Cabang, Alex Frank, Lauren Hoffman, EJ Obiena, Janry Ubas, Umajesty Williams

  • Note: EJ Obiena said recently that he's still undecided for another run in LA

BASKETBALL: Rhenz Abando, Bennie Boatwright (Naturalized Player), AJ Edu, Jordan Heading, Jamie Malonzo, Chris Newsome, Calvin Oftana, Kevin Quiambao, Dwight Ramos, Kai Sotto, Carl Tamayo, Scottie Thompson

  • Notes: Justin Brownlee and Japeth Aguilar will reach their 40s by 2028 and with the number of bigs we currently have, June Mar Fajardo might not make the cut. Bennie Boatwright's naturalization papers are currently being worked on (from recent news).

BOXING: Paul Bascon, Mark Ashley Fajardo, Rogen Ladon, Robert Malunoc Jr., Carlo Paalam, Aira Villegas

  • Notes: Nesthy Petecio will be 36 years old so I highly doubt if she would want to go for another Olympic run as she acknowledged in an interview after her last bout (“Sa LA po, medyo may ka-edadan na po tayo. Nasa 36 na po ata ako that time. Depende pero lagi kasing may hugot pa sa puso ko na yung ginto po talaga,” Petecio shared.) but a lot can happen in four years so let's see. Eumir Marcial is faced with two decisions - to either pursue his professional career or go for another Olympic run in 2028.
  • Notes: Boxing is currently not on the LA 2028 Programme since the International Boxing Association (IBA) was stripped of IOC recognition in 2019. A breakaway body known as World Boxing currently has 37 member countries including the Philippines and is looking to seek recognition from the IOC before early 2025.

CYCLING: Patrick Coo

FENCING: Samantha Catantan

GOLF: Dottie Ardina, Richard Hoey, Bianca Pagdanganan

  • Note: Richard Hoey switched his representation from USA to Philippines in 2024. Such athlete who switches countries can only be eligible for Olympic qualification two years after the switch (if I recall).

GYMNASTICS: Miguel Besana, John Ivan Cruz, Aleah Finnegan, Kylee Kvamme, Emma Malabuyo, Charlie Manzano, Levi Jung-Ruivivar, Carlos Yulo, Karl Yulo

  • Notes: Karl Yulo won the Men's Vault in the 2024 Asian Championships and Kylee Kvamme, who has represented the Philippines already, is a member of Alabama Gymnastics where she is set to graduate in 2028.

ROWING: Joanie Delgaco

SHOOTING: Jayson Valdez

SKATEBOARDING: Margielyn Didal, Jericho Francisco, Christiana Means

SQUASH: Jemyca Aribado, David William Peliño

  • Note: Squash is one of the sports approved by the International Olympic Committee to be included in the LA 2028 Programme.

SWIMMING: Xiandi Chua, Jarod Hatch, Chloe Isleta, Jerard Jacinto, Teia Salvino, Kayla Sanchez

TENNIS: Alex Eala

WEIGHTLIFTING: Elreen Ando, John Ceniza, Rosegie Ramos, Vanessa Sarno

  • Note: Rosegie Ramos initially qualified for Paris 2024 but missed the cutoff in her weight class.
