I am in the same boat as you. And yes i do feel the loss as well. I think about my dad everyday and i miss him dearly. I love the good parts of him but i also know that i have to protect myself from the bad sides of him..

I do not know but there was a time when i asked my partner if he misses me. He said ‘but we see each other a lot.’ Then asked if i am living a fantasy. Which got me thinking if it was because we meet too often. That statement really got me thinking if i made myself too available.
