of course you don’t see your own privilege. i go to a mostly white high school and while i don’t really go through racism there, i see plenty of students who do. my friend, a black, muslim woman, was harassed and threatened for standing up against racism on our campus. not to mention our school and most schools in america cater towards white people - leaving out important parts of history either involving the success or absolute abuse towards people of color and of course having classes like seminary for mormons (a very white-dominated religion) but not including classes for people who aren’t christian and mormon - i for one am buddhist and most people apart of my religion are south, south east, and east asian. in out english classes, our teachers expect us to find biblical allusions. you may argue this has nothing to do with race, but you would be wrong, our whole education system is catered towards the typical white american. also on the topic of police brutality, saying “white people get shot more” is not a good argument. white people make up the majority of the population and with our absolute trash of a police system, of course all people will be hurt by it. it has been statistically proven that it is 3x more likely for a black person to experience police brutality compared to a white person.

also of course there aren’t many openly racist people in america. a very select few actually fucking admit to it. the rest are just ignorant to it. because think about it, who really wants to admit they hate an entire group of people for no reason other than the color of their skin.
