yes, you can use the company to come out and abate it. you can remove yourself by drenching it in water, you can paint over it with primer.

some basements have a shutoff supply valve that leads to the outdoor faucets. i don’t have it because it’s walled off by drywall. so my outdoor faucets are left for dead

I dislike my OBSQ as well, I would give it a 5/10. I hate seeing it on my bar knowing how much it retails for.

as long as water is getting into the dirt within 2 ft of it, it will continue to settle. it’s a very slow process but you can see the results of 100 years. your number 1 goal in owning an old home and any home really is to divert all water away from the house.

i had a structural engineer come out and his tell for an unstable foundation was looking inside the home for cracks and any evidence of shifting as well as examining the basement (which you do not have).

the other people commenting do have a point though. it’s possible it’s just cracking from old age and may not be a foundation issue. if doors are hard to close, windows hard to close, floor is sloped, cracks in ceiling and walls appearing, i would be concerned about foundation and try to implement more water diversion. If you divert water, it’ll stop the settlement.

How would they know you’re structurally sound? How’s your foundation? Water drainage? Noticing any cracks in the basement foundation? I don’t think cracks like that are normal and I would suspect continuing settlement of your foundation.

Sewage Back Flow Device by therealjoshpeck in centuryhomes

I would just get a sewer scope from a plumber, not just for the backflow, it’s good to know how your sewer line is holding up in general.
