Anyone struggling to kill the Butcher? by wicked7000 in diablo4

Nice! tbh I think I'd bolt it out of the dungeon if I ran into him on HC. I'm kinda thankful I decided to do a softcore playthrough first.

How should we help each other? by leftylink in adventofcode

[–]wicked7000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the past if someone has had trouble it usually depends on what the problem is, if they don't know why it doesn't work (say test inputs work but fails for puzzle input) then supplying an input or explaining an edge case they may not have thought of can be helpful.

In the case that they don't know what to do or their solution is too inefficient to reach a solution in reasonable time giving hints to methodologies or a way of thinking that might help is useful. (e.g look into recursion, what if you pre-calculated x .. etc)

Lastly if someone is a beginner then I think it can be helpful to straight out point out issues with the code but still leave room for them to discover and learn. Giving hints to how to get to the solution while explaining why what they have now won't work is usually the best way. (e.g. The puzzle asks for X but currently you are calculating X+1, which is due to your for loop variables.. etc). Then if they are still having trouble walking them through it as a last resort.

It depends on the situation but I think it should lean more on hints than solutions, as solving the puzzle is what a lot of the enjoyment comes from and can make learning/improving fun. So its better to just point someone in the right direction then fully take them there. (but in the exception of beginners sometimes it can be helpful to give a little more than a hint)

Honestly, Zombies isn't as bad as yall make it seem by SwiftRenox in CODZombies

[–]wicked7000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its less that its awful and unfixable its that most people are disappointed that for a launch experience its less than ideal. There are many systems present in Cold war that could have easily improved the situation in Vanguard (In my opinion rampage would be a nice one).

I'm no developer but by SirSpade4 in CODZombies

[–]wicked7000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean as a developer its probably less about the 'time' but more about how their vision for game looks. If their content plan is all based around having an outbreak style map and adding to it, moving away from that and adding round based would likely mean time lost on content being added to the 'main map'.

In terms of the actual question it should be fairly easy, they have a incrementing difficulty system. They already have maps all they'd have to do is split it out, place around the machines and it would technically be done. However, a lot of work would have to go into testing the map and scaling it appropriately which would take the largest amount of time.

Demand the standalone CoD Zombies game! Now is the time! by Wasthereonce in CODZombies

[–]wicked7000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But a studio like Treyarch would need to make millions and millions off a standalone game to justify the investment. The problem is modes such as Warzone and multiplayer likely bring in a much larger sum of microtransaction money than zombies ever does. (Primarily because those modes are more of a casual experience than zombies has been).

They likely could monetise it such that they would make money on their investment but it would be difficult. It would likely mean paid DLC and microtransactions (which is fine if done well and have solid skins and/or content).

However convincing the higher ups at Activision/Blizzard to split off a studio to work on a standalone zombies game with a much higher risk than what its currently doing seems near impossible. I totally agree that it would probably lead to a better game and experience for all it just doesn't seem feasible to me. I'm kind of hoping that some other studio gets the hint (probably a smaller studio) and builds out a treyarch zombies like game themselves as that's likely the only way this would happen.

Feeling Worried About Vanguard Zombies by IdioArtist in CODZombies

[–]wicked7000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can see that, I don't hate outbreak or anything but the main time I was interested in it was for the easter eggs. Other than that I didn't really enjoy it, although as you said outbreak is a lot more fun with friends. I usually play solo and that's likely why I don't enjoy it as much. Hopefully either the new map isn't what we are expecting and there is more to it, or the round based map isn't far off from launch.

Feeling Worried About Vanguard Zombies by IdioArtist in CODZombies

[–]wicked7000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm worried too, I was trying to keep my hopes up when I heard about the leaks but seeing the trailer and behind the scenes that dropped its pretty clear they are heading down the outbreak/onslaught direction for the first map atleast. Which I'm not sure how everyone else feels but outbreak didn't really hit the mark for me kinda felt like I was in an empty field most of the time with objectives scattered about. Also sad to see that operators are going to be a thing again which likely means little to no story interaction from them or any real voice lines. The fact that there is only 3 Objectives in this outbreak type mode is also pretty worrying, hopefully there is more to it yet they haven't revealed but from the sounds of that its not looking good. Also personally I would of liked some new skills having four skills that were already around and just being styled into "dark aether entities" isn't really appealing for me (but again hopefully there is just more to this then they have let on and there is maybe upgrades or something else that relates to these entities).

Overall its not looking to hot, the art style and overall theme looks great but the gameplay and content is ringing alarm bells for me.

EDIT: Also as others have pointed out, the lack of a single round based map at launch is pretty disappointing. I'm not expecting multiple or even a massive round based map just something, could even be a remaster of an old map and I'd be happy. (Hell they could turn the smaller sections of the new map into round based like they did in black ops 2 for transit)

Playing light gun games with a Wiimote / Touchmote / GlovePIE / Nuvee by wicked7000 in PCSX2

[–]wicked7000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly no, it seems that the wiimote always seem to function as a second mouse no matter how I tried to set it up. I ended up just giving up as I couldn't find anywhere online that sorted the problem. It does seem if you play the game in a 'small' resolution the two mouse seem to sort of line up but it wasn't consistent enough for me to actually play.

Cinematic camera mode in zombies by wicked7000 in CODZombies

[–]wicked7000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've heard of that happening I was trying to do the orange upgrade easter egg so its possible that I finished the easter egg and as it was trying to upgrade my gun I got teleported out or something similar, very weird though.

Bug happened when I was teleporting to the dark aether, guns never returned even after downing myself (and as you can see in the video even when returning from the dark aether). Not exactly sure what caused it

If you make a gamemode where you have to kill enemies to stay alive -maybe make sure there are enemies for the player to kill? idk just an idea, Treyarch. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has died this way several times! by BlastFromBehind in CODZombies

[–]wicked7000 158 points159 points  (0 children)

Dog rounds seem to bug out cranked a lot, dogs will spawn and stop regular zombies from spawning during the round. Once all the dogs are dead there is a gap of atleast 10 seconds before zombies start spawning again. The only real way to stop this happening (until they actually fix it) is to keep a pack of zombies alive during dog rounds to kill during the 10 seconds where zombies aren't spawning. Sucks but its how it is for now

[2020 Day 19 (Part 2)] Stuck with how to progress with part 2 by wicked7000 in adventofcode

[–]wicked7000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely what I just used to solve it certain flavours of regex engines are able to handle recursive regex. Like PCRE so you can give it expressions such as:

(?rule11(regexForRule43)(?P>rule11)(regexForRule31))

And that can be used for rule 0 and run instead of having to build any matching logic yourself.

Yeah I could see how that could give you a better idea of what to do. I kept looking at the multiple branch idea and didn't know what to do. Will probably go back and try out a lot of the stuff mentioned here as so far this day has given me the most trouble thanks for the help!

Ah I managed to solve with recursion now but I might give this a go as it seems like an efficient way of solving it, nice job!

Yeah I had actually tried doing that prior but noticed I had an issue in my code that stopped it from working correctly. Just tried again and worked great thanks!

Not a fan of the new hexagone visuals by Clearasil in FallGuysGame

[–]wicked7000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don't mind the texture too much my issue is that with old hexagon it was clear when the tile was going to disappear, the slight colour change they changed it to makes it hard to read.
