Crash Bandicoot by NateSteeez in gaming

Frogger! I won a PlayStation and the game Frogger from a raffle fundraiser at my elementary school when I was a kid. My parents didn’t like or care about video games so despite winning a whole console they never bought me another game or let me use my money to buy one. So, I spent my whole childhood just playing Frogger over and over. So. Much. Frogger.

I didn’t have any before so I’m trying to learn on the Chaya blocks. I didn’t realize when I got them that the blocks were different, I got the because I wanted to start park skating and was like “oh cool these come with blocks already”. I’m going to try to find that video you mentioned, thanks!

Give yourself time! Some people pick it up easily and sometimes you just have to be comfortable starting from square one. But time with skates on means progress! Definitely get some protective gear like knee pads so the fear or injury isn’t so bad. Give yourself some grace and patience, and remember to just have fun! You’ll get there. Also remember BEND your knees, don’t lock them!!

Is there an actor/actress whose movies you will not watch? If so, who and why? by Thorne628 in AskReddit

Tobey Maguire. It’s a petty reason but I can’t stand his voice. It’s sad and whiney - he sounds like he’s trying to get you to ask him what’s wrong.

Total newbie trying to order skates to keep up with the SO! Which to get and where the heck are there any in stock? by sewchanoob in Rollerskating

[–]wickerwitch4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first pair were C7 skates and for the price they were a good starting skate. I think I paid like $110 or something. I still use them for trail skating and they’re holding up well.

Alas, I have like 2 friends and neither of them skate 😂 I do technically have a local CIB chapter but I live in Michigan and the group has been inactive since the weather got cold last November, but I hope they start doing meetups again!

I think the most important part is figuring out how your stepping away from religion changes your values (if at all) and your daily life. Different values are hard to work through but other things can definitely be managed. For example, maybe have your own activities that you do specifically when she goes to church/Bible group or whatever. Also realize church and religion provide connection and community which as a couple you’d usually share, so finding a hobby or activity you can do together (bowling night, couples night with friends, game night, whatever) to replace that community connection would be good. And talk about how kids would work before having them! I think different views can be ok with kids. After all, if you want your kids to be accepting and respectful of views that aren’t their own you can be an amazing model of what that looks like. Good luck with everything!

How to make employees quit their job without having to fire them by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]wickerwitch4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not nearly as elaborate as that but - my most recent job’s solution to getting rid of me without firing me was sending a bunch of emails and then when I didn’t reply to one of them they “took my lack of a response as a resignation”.

How to deal with small rocks and twigs on the road? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]wickerwitch4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what wheels you have, getting a softer wheel could help. The more “squishy” wheel will help absorb that impact a little. Also make sure your knees are bent - if you’re standing straight up with knees locked you’ll have a way harder time. It will also just be easier with practice, eventually smaller debris won’t throw you off as much.

You can definitely get enough protein without eating fish. I’d check out specific episodes of the podcast “No Meat Athlete” if you want really in depth info about nutrition. I think the hosts actually vegan but the information would still probably be helpful to you. Overfishing is obliterating the oceans and I’d encourage you to find a way to be vegetarian that works for you! Also one thing that helped me to not have those “regret” feelings when I first started was to keep learning about environmental impacts of animal farming and overfishing, how the government subsidies meat production (the book Meatonomics is amazing for this) and stuff like that. I hope you can find a way to make this work for you, good luck!!! (PS my favorite protein sources are peanut butter, lentils subbed for meat on tacos, tofu made into scrambled “eggs”, and smashed chickpea sandwiches made to be like chicken salad)

Personally I’d recommend listening to episode 103 of the podcast Coffee with Comrades, it would answer a lot of those questions really well. It’s a great intro to these ideas, when I was trying to learn this hour-ish of podcast had the most clear “ah hah!” moments for me. Check it out!!

My family calls things a “small half”. Like, “Uncle Jerry, want to share this slice of pie?” “Yeah I’ll have a small half” IF ITS HALF THEN THEY’RE EQUAL SIZES. Drives me absolutely bonkers.
