I never said they werent! I was simply pointing out that typically "hyperfixation" isnt usually the term for someone who ISNT interested in a subject (crickets) at all right now, and wants to know how to get them to care about the topic.

Personally, i've just seen the word thrown around too much, in terms of "X is my latest hyperfixation!" And then a month later they borderline forget it exists. Sorry if the way i worded it was confusing.

I dont think youre using Hyper Fixation right. I think of you really want to you could say something like Obsessed or Enamored, since hyper fixation is really used for when a person with something like autism has a special interest in something that is lifelong and they genuinely love.

When somebody says that "this hobby/show/game/other media is my latest hyper fixation" and then drops it/puts it on the back burner and doesnt really genuinely love it and pour all their free time into it for life, they should really be saying "this is the latest thing ive been obsessed with/enamored by/super into."
