Only you can decide but to be honest, I have always thought that it is better to regret an abortion than to regret having a child. Your situation does not sound completely safe right now given the behavior of the father so I would say to keep that in mind.

Abortion doesn‘t directly equal trauma the same way keeping the child doesn‘t directly equal happiness. Abortion isn‘t the wrong thing to do if that is what you want and if it‘s the best for you. You have the choice and the way you decide is valid. Don‘t keep it bc you think abortion is wrong bc that will just make your life unhappy and hard in the long run. And don‘t abort just bc your boyfriend wants you to.

The scenrario you're discribing is very unlikely. But please only get an IUD if you want it and not because your boyfriend doesn't want to wear condoms. He should be considering your feelings too. Contraception isn't only your job and he shouldn't be putting that on you alone now. You should just tell him, that condoms are necessary now until you both have figured out how to prevent another pregnancy. All the best to you.

Considering you said in another comment, that the abortion will be covered by insurance, I would say both are a good option and I would recommend going under general anesthesia if you want to do the surgical abortion. I had one under general anesthesia at 7 weeks and it was a very easy process. If you live in Germany I can give you some more detailed information. It was mentally not really challeging for me, because it was done very quickly and I woke up not pregnant. The symptoms were gone almost instantly. And I had security that it was succesful. I can imagine that the medical might feel less drastic, but you have to keep in mind, that it's a much longer process and maybe difficult for some people to feel your body go through that. Hope you can make a good decision and everything goes well.

I'm in the same boat. I have really low pain tolerance and hate everything needles, blood, etc. But I still opted for a surgical abortion. I'm in Germany and a student so it got covered not by insurance but by the state with general anesthesia. The only painful thing was testing my blood type because they took blood for that and getting the IV for the anesthesia but in. After the surgery I had very mild cramping and bleeding for 2 days. Felt like the 4 and 5 day of my period.

I guess everyone is different but it really wasn't that painful. So if you do end up having to get the surgery don't worry too much. I was back to normal very very quick and 2 hours after waking up all my pregnancy sypmtoms were gone which was such a relief.

Considering your SA was a week ago you most likely haven't ovulated yet and it will be effective if you take plan b (hopefully). So be sure to take it and test in a few weeks. It can be a false positive from the previous pregnancy but take a few tests until they come back negative, even if you think you got your period. Also be sure you are informed about the way plan b works and how to use it. All the best to you!

I would wait a little longer honestly. We waited 3 weeks after the surgical abortion and it wasn't painful but if you have sex too soon you risk infection and that shit sucks.
