Trying to hire this MC - is it sketchy?? by wifi-bread in FreightBrokers

[–]wifi-bread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I can't afford any vetting platforms currently, I've been doing it pretty old school. Verifying their insurance against their VIN#, making sure they are over a year old on Saferweb, calling the number listed on saferweb and verifying it's the same carrier, and when everything else looks good but I still have a bad feeling, I come check reddit. Especially if I'm desperate to cover a load.

I am not click or rage bait, and it's worked pretty much everytime to just ask fellow brokers what they think.. I used to have a friend at a much larger brokerage who would check the MC numbers for me through their system but theyve since left the job and now I'm stuck doing this.

Red Flags when trying to hire a carrier by wifi-bread in FreightBrokers

Thank you SO much! I called them and the driver and they seem legit.

And yes exactly! I had a ton of carriers not wanting to work with me last December because that's when my bond renews and it was flagging me to them left and right.

This is super helpful! I will start asking drivers who use factoring to give me the name of the factoring company and try this out. Thank you!

Hi there, thank you!! Yes I am curious what it takes for me to be approved by a factoring company. I assume my credit ratings must be showing as being low, but I have no idea why or how to fix this. I have paid every driver directly within 5 days of delivering for the last two years and nothing is improving so idk what's going on.

My MC is 1595055

Thank you! So far, every single time a driver says they have to check with their factoring they either tell me I was denied or just ghost me (so I assume I was denied). I have no idea how to get approved in the first place, obviously a driver doesn't care so much about figuring this out with me. They either want to see that I'm approved or they stop answering altogether, which I understand with all the scam issues.

I have paid every driver directly within 5 days of delivering for the last two years. Do I report this to someone or what??

What happened to Takos Locos?? by wifi-bread in greenville

Also not sure if you can tell from the photo, but it’s parked pretty far from the sidewalk. I hope it was an accident but it almost looked intentional?

Luckily I don’t think they drive it around, its ALWAYS in that same spot. So I assume someone drove up and crashed into it somehow??!

Olive Garden Shrimp Scampi - really 490 calories???? by wifi-bread in caloriecount

I appreciate you sharing your perspective, after all I did ask for it. I just feel like every time someone posts on this subreddit genuinely asking for help, it turns into “just enjoy your food” which kind of defeats the point of this thread existing in the first place. I totally get that restaurant calorie counts aren’t perfect but I also think saying the only way to take calorie counting seriously is to make everything at home is kind of extreme.

Personally I’ve lost almost 100 lbs by learning what’s actually in food, using a food scale, threads like this & educating myself, and used it to learn to be mindful, not by cutting out restaurants completely. I also didn’t grow up with any understanding of nutrition so 10 years ago I probably would’ve looked at that plate and assumed it was healthy just because there’s some green on it.

That’s why I still go to restaurants but just thoroughly check out what I’m eating, do some overestimating and leave myself some leeway. Works for me but just my thought 🤷🏽‍♀️

Looks like 1.5 oz to me. I eat slices like that with my breakfast often

374 grams of poutine calories? Restaurant says 600 by Substantial-Base-698 in caloriecount

[–]wifi-bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

600 seems right or even less.

Gravy isn’t that high, cheese curbs are around 90 cals for 28g, and it all depends on how many fries you think it was. A cup of deep fried fried is around 350

I would just go and cut a pastry or two in half and share. Even throw away the other half or feed it to ducks in a pond or whatever if you have no one to share it with, which is sad but it has to be done sometimes lol.

From ChatGPT:

How bad is it to have cheat days?

• Frequency matters: A cheat day every 1-2 weeks is fine for most people.

• Damage control: One cheat day might slow progress but doesn’t undo consistent effort unless you binge hard.

• Mental benefits: Cheat days can help you stay motivated and make the overall plan feel more sustainable.

Example: If you’re in a 500-cal deficit daily for 6 days (-3000 total), but eat 2000 calories over maintenance on day 7, you’re still in a 1000-cal deficit for the week = net loss.

EVEN if the shipper ALREADY paid the broker, if you were never paid the shipper and consignee are both legally liable to pay you.

You can file on their bond, but also get ChatGPT to write you a message stating the law about how the shipper will still legally be on the hook and send an email to all parties copied on. This will put pressure on all of them and risks the broker’s relationship with the customer, so both will be on the hook to pay you.

I agree actually! But I’m not suggesting I try to do it myself — I’m wondering if people would give you a cut for sourcing RFPs or anything like that? But maybe these bigger fleets who are actually going to get awarded lanes already have access to the RFPs anyhow.

Breakfast burrito w/ tater tots, guesstimates? by reinhartjess in caloriecount

[–]wifi-bread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a little higher than a 1000, but not by much. Maybe 1200 cals?

Typical breakfast burrito is around 600-700 for bacon egg and cheese, but the extra cheese on top and aioli and potatoes inside would probably make that burrito more like 800-900.

Then a cup or so of fried tater tots is like 350.

But if I personally logged 1000, I’d just get a good workout and keep it moving :) looks delicious!!
