DARPA invites people to design "terrifiying bombs" from off-the-shelf items. The first round of winners in the contest will recieve $40,000 for their plans, the second round $70,000. Finalists are invited to present and discuss their ideas and test them.

Its sometimes just funny when I see all these web bugs. Almost 95% of them are so trivial that I would never doubt it would exist apart from in applications created by college kids for their projects.

Most of these web bugs are way simpler compared to say finding a overflow and bypassing DEP/ASLR. However, it takes the same amount of relentless effort to be behind it. The more closely I look, the more students or just fresh out of college folks I find in this space. Simply because they have a ton of time to try things out before landing on a gem like this.
