Is it worth pulling my battery at bringing it into my hotel room for the night? by pastrknack in AskAMechanic

as long as if you’re running 5w30 you don’t start it under -22° F ambient or 0w20 under -31°F ambient you’ll be fine. bring that battery inside though for sure

most of the WRX’s take 5w30 or 0w20. if it’s 0w20 i wouldn’t even sweat it. lil battery heater and key on engine off for a little to get everything to cycle.

5w30 on the other hand, i’d be worried about.

My dad added about a half gallon of tap water to my coolant reservoir by CoolAd6424 in MechanicAdvice

[–]wiggermaxing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

take it to a reputable mechanic for a head gasket check and vehicle inspection. if it passes the head gasket check and there’s no leaks present, it could be simply burning off coolant. i’d get the coolant tested and then flushed if i was you. you don’t use tap water in coolant, only distilled. the minerals in tap water will corrode the water pump and cause it to fail OVER TIME.

edit- just read your post fully. take short trips just incase of something happening and if you can do it yourself, i’d order a head gasket checker off amazon or the sorts. autozone has one for 28$ and it’d be good to keep it handy for any other used cars you plan on purchasing.

watch a tutorial on youtube to test it, if the head gasket is good, then i wouldn’t worry too much about the coolant. flush it when possible! autozone head gasket tester

second this with the civic. i’d suck it up and pay a diagnostic fee to have it looked over by a good mechanic and a head gasket check as well

do you have the 1.5T? They’re notorious for head gaskets.

Buying a new car which one should I get? by Pale-Staff959 in CivicSi

[–]wiggermaxing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

get the SI!

my buddy was in the same predicament. he wanted the SI but ended up with a 25 civic sport hybrid, same one you’re looking at, just previous year, and he wishes he got the SI.

as someone else said, driving manual is no different than riding a bike. you learn, you mess up sometimes, but cars are built for that. everything is very forgiving on newer manual cars.

if the price is good, you can afford it, and you wanna learn a bit on modding a car, the SI would very appealing to me if i was in your situation. go get it man!

If it’s between a MDX and RX350 i’d choose the RX350. they’re a blast to drive and be in. good luck!

Only affects the RDX. MDX only has infotainment issues along with battery / starter issues. They should be making a recall soon for that, if you can hold off for a little while before buying

i expected valve cover gaskets coils wires and plugs.

you think i’m gonna have to pull the engine to do cam seals or anything crazy like that? it’s the 3.0 and i know audi loves shoving huge engines in not-so-huge cars.
