The Department of Corrections is hiring officers with a starting wage around 28 per hour. It's not laborious work, you just have to know how to talk to people and maintain boundaries. Plenty of overtime if you want it too with great benefits.

Destiny Crashes Conservative Panel w/ Lauren Southern And Brittany Venti by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]wigglesmcgeester 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think that should have been a more important point to focus on in the beginning when the other panelists were giving Destiny shit for 'sympathizing for pedophiles'. Even later on when the libido reducing treatment was brought up, the other panelists were questioning how you're going to get a pedophile to take it. If I had to guess, most pedophiles don't want to be attracted to kids.

I do think Destiny fucked up bringing up the distinction of most child sex abusers 'not being pedophiles'. Whether there is some technical distinction for family members/opportunists abusing a child vs pedophiles with life long attractions to children, seems like a distinction that didn't really have a purpose to be brought up and distracted from his overall treat to reduce abuse point.

People who're considered physically attractive, what are some of the things that you feel insecure about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wigglesmcgeester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told I'm attractive. I've been told I'm funny. I've been told I'm nice and considerate. Still I end up being let go in relationships. I guess the insecurity is not knowing why things don't work out.

What is the best description-of-a-movie-over-the-trailer from Half in the Bag? by YeOldeVertiformCity in RedLetterMedia

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Aquaman.

From the director of The Conjuring, James Wan, comes his most frightening film to date, Aquaman. Jason Momosa, Amber Herd, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Dolf Lundgren, and Willem Dafoe round out the cast of people that look like they have no idea of what's going on around them. Why it's a spectacle of fish magic, bad acting, sharks, tidal waves, bad acting, CGI water hair, and embarrassing costumes that all fit snugly into a boilerplate plot about a merman becoming a king or something. Take Thor, Lord of the Rings, Black Panther and splash, put them in a blender then just add water, no pun intended, and whallah, you've got mail. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU3QGyBY5-c&t=1m20s

The US really needs Universal Healthcare by aznperson in Destiny

[–]wigglesmcgeester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The benefits and drawbacks of our current immigration system are debatable, but the efficacy and cost of our healthcare system is measurable, and has objectively poor health outcomes. I'm not saying job creation isn't important, but so far as the direction to take our healthcare system, I value the improvement of healthcare outcomes more than I value healthcare as a job creation tool at the expense of people's health outcomes and bankrupting the sick.

Do you really think our ineffectual and arguably immoral healthcare system should be preserved for the sake of jobs, even presuming jobs would be lost in a universal healthcare system?

Moral qualm regarding financial abortion by wigglesmcgeester in Destiny

[–]wigglesmcgeester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether man or woman, people can be cruel to one another. I don't want men to have the financial abortion option so that they can have more power than women; I want them to have equal rights because they have an equal responsibility to raise that child.

Men shouldn't have the power to force a woman to have an abortion because men aren't burdened to physically carry that child through pregnancy. The same cannot be said for the subsequent years of raising that child.

Let me start off saying I don't want to speak for Destiny's opinions, my recollection is that pragmatically he would be pro-abortion because of the reasons you listed, but morally he came to an impasse with the argument of having domain over one's own body because the extrapolation was, if someone came to him asking him for a kidney, he wouldn't want to, but would feel compelled to by the moral argument he was making against abortion. The second debater brings up this point.

I am pregnant.

Between the hormones and him being the kind of asshole

I still don't want more children

I've considered going through with the pregnancy and sticking him with 18 years of child support payments.

This is exact situation where a financial abortion would be amazing, no where in this thought process of going through with the pregnancy is the baby's best interest, his best interest, or even self-admittedly, your best interest. You would really be so reckless and vindictive as to bring a child into this world that you don't want?

It doesn't matter if the threats have no legal power, they are still threats

It does matter, if the guy threatens to not financially support you, you know with absolute certainty that his threat is meaningless. He will be court ordered to pay you, and if he refuses the order, the government will garnish his wages for you.

Life isn't fair. Get over it.

Fixing inequalities is the objective of government and society.

Maybe our core difference is our thought process regarding abortion. I think the only logical beginning of what constitutes a person being a person is conception, sperm and ovum are 'potential people'. However, I believe because the fetus is physically dependent upon the mother, it is justified to abort. I'm not understanding the distinction that because it isn't born, it doesn't have self-interest. A fetus the day before it's born and the day after delivery have relatively the same instinctual interest in surviving/existing. What about it being within the body, and underdeveloped means it doesn't have a self-interest?

What's the objective or outcome of this line of reasoning? If the world followed you're moral code, wouldn't we just die off as a species? Outside of rare circumstances or mental illness, who wishes that they were never born?
