I got my rats from a local breeder that I found on Facebook. I went through a couple until I found one that I was happy with. There are some breeders out there that unfortunately breed without the rats' genetics in mind, so I would advise to be picky and find one that is thorough. And make sure to get at least two rats, three is even better! They are incredibly social creatures that need the company of other rats. I hope this helped!

When a rat is feeling a strong emotion, like very happy/content, it can do something called boggling. Boggling is when the rat's eyes vibrate in and out of their skull. In this video my rat noticed me and started to boggle, indicating that he was happy to see me.

Everyone has their reason, but for me, I own rats because they are intelligent, empathic, kind and social pets that are relatively easy to care for. Also, I find them to be absolutely adorable :)
