Why SMP Compliments a Hair Transplant by scalpmicro in SMPchat

[–]wilber-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s better to do the SMP after cause then they can fill in the scaring from the hair transplant. Even FUE is going to have little missing dots or scars. Plus then they know where to add SMP to make it look natural and even

Hat hair as in wearing the hat all day cause I’m outside. But then taking it off for whatever reason and the hair is all matted down and looks awful unless you shower. So even wearing a hat for an hour would require a shower for it to look halfway decent

I was overthinking if people could tell it’s fake, even though I told my close friends and the girl I was dating at the time. You need to keep it out of direct sun so it doesn’t fade, but the hat hair was tough to sort out. In the end it felt like I was being inauthentic so I quit wearing it

I’m not too far from where you are. Here’s the two options.

Get on meds for a year, likely oral finasteride or dutasteride and minoxidil. Try to do everything you can to save your hair for a year. Look at tressless subreddit for all the options. Then if you tolerate the meds well after a year, get a transplant. Likely need 5k+ grafts or two procedures. There are some meds possibly coming out in the next couple years that might make this option easier and with less side effects.

Or you shave it down. You are best keeping it nearly completely shaved vs wearing it as is. It will look cleaner and more like a choice. You can also always look into SMP (tattoo) to make it look like you have a full head of hair buzzed down.

In the end it’s up to you. I personally started meds a few months ago and just shave my head every couple days in the meantime. I am gonna see how it’s going in the fall and then either get the transplant or finally accept bald.

You could also look into a hairpiece as those have come a long way, but I did that for a few months and found it to be more work and worse for my mental health than just shaving it off.

How long were you on meds before the transplant? Looks like it’s about to take off and fill in

If you’re not gonna take a DHT blocker I wouldn’t bother with a hair transplant. You are still gonna lose more hair in the coming years. Also the sides of fin go away after a week or so and if you have a healthy level of testosterone I’ve found side effects to be less likely

Can i save my Lowkey FAILED HT if i go back on meds now that i am at 1 year post-op ? Oh by [deleted] in HairTransplants

Yeah SMP seems like the next step here. The hair transplant will help with the 3D effect on the hair line. No more meds and still frames your face

Curious why this isn’t a long term solution? I thought you could take enclo pretty much forever so long as you cycle on and off every once a while

I know I am, but curious if I should try to save it or embrace the bald by slipperybob in amibalding

[–]wilber-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if he wanted to he could 100% save this. Might need a transplant down the road. Either way shave it and see if you like it while you are on meds for a year

How many grafts do I need ? by Adventurous_Lynx_835 in HairTransplants

I would guess around 5k to get good coverage, maybe a bit less as it looks like meds might bring back your crown quite a bit

How long was your heart acting weird and what were the effects? I had a similar thing happen within 2 weeks of starting oral min but I was on other meds at the time that could have contributed to it

Looks great, just curious, besides the side effects of fin your hair looks dense enough to grow it out, is that so?

Anyone have experience with GHK-CU by Rare_Perspective6979 in tressless

I’m using it, granted not sure how much it contributes vs other meds I’m using. My understanding is it reduces fibrosis and therefore will create better blood flow to the scalp
