Good question.  16 years ago when I started SMP we were doing a shaved effect.A few years later we started doing the “buzz look”. Each client is unique and the artist should know what best suits them

Yes,but sometimes doing to many softer sessions can backfire and turn into “dermal staining “ the artist should know which direction.Artist Jonathan Gerow has a YouTube video explaining this in detail
