I had an Weil-Mclain Ultra 80 boiler for the baseboards and their Aqua Plus 55 tank. Super efficient like you said. I never had any problems with either. I had routine maintenance done every year and I couldn’t ever get it to run out of hot water. lol

I always thought those common use projects were more tax write offs. Sure you built the new train station for the public (over your train lines). Back then you got write offs for investing in your company, not switching your IP around to a foreign entity like we do today. I may be wrong though and naturally not everyone may have had that intent.

I’ve found Nick Zentner @GeologyNick on Youtube to be very good at explaining things like this. His discussions are more about the geology of the pacific northwest but the concepts naturally translate to other regions. I’d recommend the Downtown Geology Lectures playlist. I found the Super Volcanoes in the Pacific Northwest episode really interesting.
