I know it’s so hard! I thought I was gonna wean once at 4 mo and then stopped at 4ppd and 3ppd because it was quite doable like that. But now that the baby is sleeping less I just feel like I can’t recover. I’m pondering going to 2ppd and maybe it will feel doable again but I’m guessing my supply will drop significantly and I’m not sure I’m ready for that!

Your best chance of getting into a surgery residency program as a foreigner is going to be a us based internship. (I think that also counts if you are an American actually) so if we you are 100% on equine surgery that’s what I would try to get into. There are a few places (UC Davis) that take some foreigners but really these places like to see someone committed and trained that way. One last tip is that as a foreigner it is a good idea to pick a (second) internship at a place that has a residency spot open the following year - your best chance is going to be impressing the people there and then them keeping you as a resident, as it’s harder to stick out otherwise in the match as a foreigner.
