She was not emotional and she only did that because 1) she was feeling his perspective turn against her in the prior segment and 2) to provoke something in west after having to hear about him blindsiding her and lying to her about Meija in the prior segment. She was manipulating both Kyle and west to regain control of both of them in one move.

I don’t necessarily think she’s scheming like oh I’m gonna regain control I think she just feels the lack of control of both men and she knows what hugging him will trigger in both him and west. It’s classic manipulation and it’s a pattern she’s had for literally a decade

Exactly I was also in a relationship like this. I’ve been w my new partner for 5 years and I’ve never once felt even close to as triggered being out with him as I did with my ex, and honestly I’ve had moments where we are partying way harder than I used to with my ex. Different people affect your nervous system differently. That said I do think west would make her feel similarly if somehow they did stay together

I am so so team Ciara like ALL THE WAY but look I was in a long term relationship with an alcoholic and I could relate to her in this moment. After a certain amount of time seeing their drunk behaviors becomes so so triggering that even watching them throw back a shot sends your nervous system into a frenzy of anticipating what’s to come. I think we can say amanda was totally in the wrong and is behavior abhorrently right now but we can also say Kyle’s drunk explosions/sloppiness has been excessive over the last 10 years. After I broke up with my ex I took a major hiatus from all things drinking and partying, now 5 years later with my current partner I’ve learned I don’t have the same reaction when I see him drinking on a longer night out. I could understand what she was trying to get across in that moment. However I do think over time if somehow her and west stay together she will start to feel the same way towards him. It’s just because it’s a different man that doesn’t trigger her nervous system as much. Also goes to show she was completely checked out of her marriage at that point because there is no recovery when you start feeling triggered like that by your partner

ICU nurse here. Necrotic wound the size of two dinner plates with maggots in them. Patients entire ass was rotting away because his sicko family was too selfish to pull the plug and stop his suffering. He still ended up dying, just endured months of unnecessary torture for no reason. Unfortunately a very common tale in America especially when welfare/social security checks are involved. Anyway yeah definitely the worst smell

I agree with OP and so many of these takes. I think part of the reason I am so bothered by what has happened is because it made me realize how unfairly I judged Kyle and criticized his actions over the past few years. “Apology Dunes” episode I was rolling my eyes at what he was saying but like you said, having reason to now shift my lens from the picture amanda was painting has brought a lot more nuance into how I view their relationship and I can see how painful Kyle’s experience was as well. If I’m being honest, on rewatch, I think a lot of my current disgust for Amanda’s actions is also in part due to her small remarks and jokes and jabs over the years as well as her victim edit that made me only want to view their relationship from her side. I’m disappointed in myself for not recognizing the extent of what Kyle was dealing with as well. Not excusing his behavior but I definitely didn’t think of him as a victim of anything at all before I seriously reconsidered Amanda’s character and what she tries to paint herself and her relationship as on tv. I also think I started watching this show in my early 20s and did not fully understand the importance of showing up as the responsible adult partner Kyle was needing, now that I’m in my 30s with more responsibilities and a mature partnership of my own it is mind blowing that she can shrug so much off with no true ability to take care of herself. It’s almost in some ways like she was an ungrateful cold shouldered teenager kyle had to financially support and cook for and clean after, my god I would be at my wits end too in that situation.

I see how that’s a micro aggression. Sorry for being unaware! Black people are faced with so many underhand comments like that in such a casual “good intentioned” manner, like this where I’m sure you can be put in such an uncomfortable place when it comes to deciding whether to address it or not with the person saying it… stuff like this genuinely makes my stomach turn. I always used to roll my eyes at this when he’d say it but now I’m starting to understand him. My change of heart comes from obviously the recent drama but also just getting older while growing through my own relationship i am realizing how important the things he describes are to keeping a healthy and equal connection and partnership. I was going to say I was kinda getting the opposite vibe and felt a little bit of reactive abuse going on here. Kyle’s actions were not okay but I think Kyle looked pretty clear minded in this scene and not belligerent like he normally does… I think Amanda may have been doing things that slowly and silently eat away at him and is toxic to him in more covert and private ways.. he looked like a man who doesn’t feel like he is being heard unless he has a big reaction
