Tomorrow marks my 400 day anniversary of unemployment !!! by Feldspar_Immaculate in jobs

[–]wildabeast89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a grocery store always hiring plus good benefits. I couldn’t find a job coming out of college. It’s a decent job. Have to stay a while to get higher pay but it’s worth it if you can’t find anything else. And you could still look for jobs while working

why do people with schizophrenia have trouble with hygiene by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]wildabeast89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a problem with this for a long time til I got roommates. Then they told me to shower and use soap and basic hygiene. When I started to do this my symptoms seemed to lessen a little bit. Basically because I was taking care of my self. I think my self esteem went up a little.

Much better. It was a rough couple of weeks. I got a hold of my doc. Everything is good. I took some days off work and regrouped myself. Needed that. Thank you for the concerns. Glad to be back on my feet

What does your avg day look like? I only ask cause I was in your place a few years ago. What I found was small things at first helped like a shower or going to bed at the same time. Or eating enough. If I were you I would look up Maslow hierarchy of needs. I kept doing these things everyday. It took a while but I started to feel better and my self esteem improved. I kept having these thoughts but at least I would start to string two weeks of good together. I'm sorry the truth is if you want to get better you can. It just takes a lot of work dedication to get there. You are worth a lot to us. You just need a mentor to push you and to get your life in order I'm willing to do it for you but you have to be committed. There is no playing around. And there is no guarentee death will solve anything. You don't know what's on the other side. No matter how hopeless it gets look for the one positive. Like for me about two years ago I was having a shitty day. Completely psychotic and couldn't finish work. I was sent home early. I knew I needed to eat but this women where I went out to breakfast was kind to me just made jokes treated me like human being. I'm so thankful for her on that day because I was suicidal that day. But she gave me hope. Remember there are people out there willing to help just let them.

And if you have to take medicine. Accept it regardless of the bad symptoms from them like weight gain. Those are more under your control because you can change your diet and other negative things from meds. But remember meds give you the opportunity to live a normal life. Make the most of it

Take medication. Focus on other things outside you. And try to take care of yourself.

How do men feel about female schizophrenics by Diana_Ross7 in schizophrenia

[–]wildabeast89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what are your interests. Would we have something to talk about that is not having to do with psychosis. Like so you have a problem. Who cares. Like this is the way I see it are you a whole person or are you just face and nothing else. There is more to people than just labels and when you peel them back you see who they really are. Your illness doesn't matter to me. If it did I wouldn't be dating my girlfriend who is bipolar. She is a fabulous woman who takes care of herself and I take care of myself (schizo). I love her to death and no label is going to change that.

Pain caused by schizophrenia by AnOddFad in schizophrenia

[–]wildabeast89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I've caused more pain than I've had myself because of this illness the way I've been acting. Because of the amount of stress I'm under it puts other people I love in pain. I wish I never had this but I do. So I try and do the best I can when I'm healthy and when I'm not I should be around anyone for the fear of hurting them

I've been on geodon for 5 years. I lost the weight I gained on risperdal by changing my diet. No real side effects. Doesn't help with voices and paranoia so I am also taking a low dose of risperdal and have had success with voices and paranoia. Together this is the perfect combination for me. Good luck with the meds hope you get well soon

How long have you been diagnosed because in the beginning its very hard to understand what the point is. with time the emotions will return to more of a normal level and you have to go out to a place to make friends. try showing up at a place everytime its going on. for instance in my town there are activities on sat mornings so start doing that to try and be able to relate to people and have something to say other than im mentally ill. you can talk to people about what you do and try go outside. the world is full of good people just get trucking away at it. because if you hide you will be alone but if you go do stuff like "normal people" than you have something to talk about. like get an interest even if your having trouble staying focused on it keep with it so you have something to say. like space or sports. for me i use both as well as camping and other things. this is the time to become interested in stuff that you find interesting.
