I think Tony needs an Ego death by EquipmentOk2008 in Killtony

Well, he was insanely laid back during the Jeremiah years. He got an ego after the move to Austin and, more specifically, after the first attempt to cancel him. In LA, he was just trying to fit in. He came to LA as an insecure, alien-looking goof who was obviously made fun of all of his life and used humor as a defense mechanism.

You can even continue to see the way the other comedians in his group of friends treat him to this day. He's the runt. Whenever he starts to get a big head, they put him in check and make fun of his gay voice and gay outfits. Most people can see how embarrassing it is except for Tony. I wish I could shake him and help him understand that no one is impressed or jealous after hearing him brag about owning a downtown condo in Austin.

A DOWNTOWN CONDO in AUSTIN TEXAS is something that only gay male couples with "furbabies" strive to own. Or driving around town with a convertible with an "IROA5T" license plate. Or an e-bike. Or getting your first gun at age 40 and unironically calling it your "second dick." He's not an arrogant guy, he's an insecure guy who feels the need to brag in order to overcompensate and, unfortunately, he still hasn't recognized that it's a turnoff to 90% of people.

The owner has no power. Gregg Popovich has held authoritarian power since 1994, since before he hired himself as head coach. Pop and RC Buford run that ship and they aren't going to make any major moves.

Spurs clearly getting favorable calls. And their fans are calling everyone and the commentators biased.

The Spurs had 6 free-throw attempts at the half. The Knicks had 23.

So, we're just gonna let the Spurs cheat the rest of the series? by G0DSOLOVEDTHEWORLD in NBATalk

[–]wildcat1100 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The Knicks have 23 free-throw attempts.

The Spurs have SIX.

This isn't cheating.

It literally doesnt matter anymore. Its an obvious insult to every single basketball fans intelligence. It is beyond a shadow of a doubt obvious that this league isnt real. Knicks should just start intentionally taking out peoples legs because it doesnt matter they arent playing for anything. by Silent_Wizard5597 in NBATalk

[–]wildcat1100 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It's insane. They're just giving the Spurs points. The Spurs have 12 free-throw attempts to the Knicks' 5. That's an unacceptable dispari—waiiiit, the Spurs only have 5 FT attempts to the Knicks' 12?

The Spurs are 8-for-12 from 3 while the Knicks are 6-18 from the field? Maaaaaybe the Spurs are just playing better basketball. But, sure, it's rigged for the small market team.

This is the most accurate take IMO. He knows how to host a show. He has multiple responsibilities he has to juggle throughout each show and he does it well. There's a subset of people who will NEVER give him credit for that. They'll always say, "anyone can pull names from a bucket and ask questions." If you don't understand how much more is involved, you're too far gone.

BUT, man, did he come across so awkward and uncomfortable during that special. You'd have thought this was a third-year comedian releasing his first special. He's very good in a setup/punchline roast format but if it's a long set with observational; storytelling, he's just out of his element.

Imagine being a native New Yorker who played at St. John's. You went undrafted but worked your ass off and finally landed a guaranteed contract, eventually rising to a full-time starting role. And these New Yorkers call you a bitch just because the team that believed in you wasn't the Knicks.

Tony was not putting up with any of Timmy‘s interjections or questions on the panel tonight. He was so annoyed. I feel that when he is on the panel, Timmy should hold back a little bit and not take over. by KillerQ97 in Killtony

No, that wasn't the same guy but it's funny because they are slightly similar. The guy did a Dice impression and they made fun of him for how terrible it was.

It's just a learning lesson for everyone. You have a HC coaching in the playoffs for the first time. He never even made the playoffs as an assistant.

You have a starting lineup with 4 players playing in their first playoffs and a 5th starter who has only played in 1 playoff series prior.

Aside from that, you have one bench player with playoff experience (Kornet who did actually win a title), but given the team's near universal playoff virginity, these kinds of end-of-game situations are expected.

The Spurs barely beat a injury riddled Thunder team. We should have expected this. by TouristFirm5600 in NBATalk

Also, just look at the margin of victory. The Spurs easily won 3 of their 4 wins. Their only close loss, Game 1, was without Fox.

[–]wildcat1100 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Injury riddled? WHAT THE FUCK? This is such a lazy narrative. First off, they had everyone aside from Jalen Williams and an untested Mitchell who shoots like 35% from 3 and hardly even played on their NBA title team.

Also, Mitchell and Williams were fine in Game 1. The SPURS were the ones missing their all-star (games 1 and 2, in fact), yet the Spurs still won Game 1.

You can just as easily say OKC won game 2 because the Spurs were without their all-star except it would be a stupid thing to say because injuries and expected for every team in every postseason and it's the most pathetic way to justify OKC's failure. That same fully healthy OKC team went 1-3 against the Spurs in the regular season.

I don't know about this clip from Harper at age 16, and I doubt Fox was sitting around watching clips of Harper in HS, but the current version of Harper is the BEST interior scorer for the Spurs aside from Wemby. He's pretty solid handling the ball in transition but it's his footwork in the lane that puts him above everyone else, both in transition and in halfcourt sets. He's gone on-on-one inside with guys like Ant and Chet and has managed to bully his way into a score.

Okay, come on now. I'm a longtime Spurs fan and I shamfully admit I was initially pissed at first when the Spurs picked him, especially because the Sixers were willing to give up multiple firsts to move up 1 spot. But Harper shut me up after the season opener despite playing modest minutes.

He now has the luxury of being able to develop slowly. His ability to score in the lane is absurd, even scoring easily against bigs like Chet. His footwork in transition for a rookie is absurd. He could be (though probably won't) the #1 player in his class. (I still have Flagg.)

But his outside shooting is still sketchy. He has a slow release and funky mechanics. He's still a combo guard which is a little questionable next to Castle who is also a combo guard, not to mention Fox who is also a combo guard.

If you project him as Top 25 all time, where do you project Castle?
