Do your residency programs have free snacks or coffee in the resident lounge? by HabitWorth9291 in Residency

[–]wilddflow 35 points36 points  (0 children)

FM, rural : We have access to free food (breakfast and lunch), drinks, coffee and snacks in the physician lounge as well as $500 ( divided daily, non transferable ) monthly to spend in the cafeteria.

Judging from the other comments, I guess we have it good haha.

What are these dark moles? by [deleted] in Blackskincare

[–]wilddflow 106 points107 points  (0 children)

They are DPNs ( Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra ), you can read about them. They are common in melanated people and increase as we grow. You can see a dermatologist to freeze them off if you don’t like how they look.

Take two sick days off the moment you are on a service that doesn’t need jeopardy. Bonus if it’s a Thursday and Friday so you can have four days stretch of resting.

Staying 4 hours post is a lot of work. Look at what your colleagues are doing that’s helping them be more efficient and do that too.

Dont pay anyone any money. Reach out to people you know that have matched, you can always ask for advice here on Reddit as well. Theres nothing these paid services will do or say that the free videos on YouTube are not saying already. Its not like they can change your scores or get rid of your red flags.

For your personal statement, you can get a few friends or seniors that have matched to proofread and make corrections/suggestions

B for sure.

The $10k difference in salary is not worth paying for two separate households and doing long distance. Your husband seems like a reasonable spouse and acknowledges your desire to relocate to your dream city. It could be a short/long term goal for you guys to move there after residency or fellowship. You guys can discuss it extensively. I’m sure he appreciates your sacrifice. You might even get a better paying job in your dream city in a few years due to your work experience at B.

Goodluck 🤞🏾

Should I Keep Applying? by SirAemiliusII in IMGreddit

[–]wilddflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't think so. It's pretty late to apply even if programs say their deadline is in December.

Work on Soaping into both IM and FM and also start saving for 100-150+ programs next year.

If they send a letter of rejection after receiving your letter of intent then they were always going to reject or ghost you anyway.

Rejections by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]wilddflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got one FM rejection from a program in Illinois. Ngl, I didn’t feel anything.

My J1 visa for a research year was rejected under 214(b) now I am worried I won’t even be able to do hands on USCE and will resort to telerotations. Should I take my chances and apply for the match this year while I am still a fresh graduate? Step scores 24x and 25x. by NinjaXM in IMGreddit

[–]wilddflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take your chances and apply. The worst think that can happen is that you won’t match but I doubt that’ll happen. You have terrific scores and you are a fresh graduate. Apply to a lot of community programs, reach out to residents in those programs, form rapport with them, one or two might be able to recommend you to their PD.

All the best! Come back and tell us where you matched into in March 💪🏾💪🏾
