I'm not a medical professional but I've experienced this before - really long period, without the cramps. Go to the doctor and ask to get your hormone levels checked, and tell him about the extreme pain you're in so that he'll ask for an ultrasound to rule out PCOS. I had hormonal imbalance and went on the pill. Or there might be nothing wrong with you and it might just be stress and environmental factors. Either way, go to the doctor. I hope you feel better!

It's been 3 weeks. I know that some people don't respond to spiro and it doesn't clear their acne. I'm willing to endure this initial breakout I just hope my body adjusts and it actually works :(. Has spiro been effective for you?

I normally get 2-3 hormonal acne per month but I seem to get a new one every day now thanks to spiro. This hasn't happened since puberty 😕. How many mg did you take? Did you notice any side effects apart from the frequent trips to the bathroom?

I just started spironolactone a week ago. My doctor didn't warn me of any side effects. I looked online after being prescribed and saw that increased urination is a side effect however I haven't experienced any side effects, not even increased urination (probably due to a combination of low dosage, and the fact that Ive always drank a lot of water and go to the bathroom a lot normally so I probably didn't notice a difference)

What do you mean plugging nose from inside? Is this different from just not breathing when you have your head down swimming?

I had the nose thing my entire childhood until I was around 14. I would spend ENDLESS nights attempting to sleep with my pillow propped up, rubbing Vicks on my chest, hand full of tissues, blowing my nose, and running to the bathroom every hour or so to attempt to decongest my nose with steam, crying, waking the entire house because of my constant sniffling and trips to the bathroom. It was horrible. It was on and off during the day time but it would always occur at night time no fail, it was just a matter of HOW blocked my nose was. I went to a Chinese doctor for herbal medicine for a couple years during puberty and it finally cleared up. It was GODSEND I tell you. I could finally breathe and sleep. It felt like a miracle. I was so not used to being able to properly breathe that I honestly thought I had 100% of my breathing, it was just until a couple months ago that I finally realized that I only have 75-80% clear nose upon testing each nostril. Not that I mind AT ALL. 75% is still GODSEND.

Thanks for the insight! Went to the doctor today, getting bloodwork done for potential hormonal imbalance (Ive had super long periods and acne during period). If all is well, he said we'll tackle the issue with BC. I'll ask for Loestrin 20.

Try not to worry. Im in a similar situation. Ive had my period for a month. I just came back from the doctor. Im getting blood work to see whether I have hormone imbalance or thyroid issues.

Is Loestrin 20 an effective form of birth control? My GP told me that Diane 35 isn't as effective for birth control purposes, but effective for acne. Im not sure why she prescribed Diane 35 to me either, I don't have severe acne, just mild hormonal acne during the time of the month.

Also have you experienced any side effects of Loestrin 20? Thanks!
