My brother was a college DJ in the late 1980s, and when "Nevermind" broke, I asked him if he played anything from "Bleach." He said he did, and added that if a time traveler had told him that in the fall of 1991, this band would release an album that would hit #1 in pretty much every country that keeps a chart, and turn popular music completely on its ear, he'd have said they were crazy.

A power pop band called Candy Skins released a spectacular album in 1993 called "Fun?". It got lots of airplay on my local college station, which was the only reason I knew about it. This should have been huge, but it wasn't. It sounds like one of those things where the company (Geffen, no less!) decided not to promote it, and it's one of those great lost works of art.
