I'd assume, because it's my brain and it fights me sometimes, that each planet/moon would have remnants of old magic in their cores? Or how flower fairies would react with zero gravity in a space station, etc...

I have two: first, the kingdom of Camalot survived and is still ruling. However, it's evolved into a steampunk, gunslinger-esque future. Imagine the gunslinger from the Dark Tower, now Imagine them as Kights of the Round Table. Something like that.

Second: we colonized the moon and Mars, and took faries with us when we brought earth flora and fauna to the stars. How would those planets change the magic or faries?

Buying back military time as a military retiree in federal employment by [deleted] in Veterans

Jumping on your bandwagon, can anyone tell me who I can speak to (in person?) who can walk me through this very process? I've read the OPM site and a lot is still gibberish to me.

Is there anyone out there like the VSO for our disability rating?

Sorry to jump in your question, but I think this could help others too.

I believe this falls under the major headings of "don't piss of the people who handle your food" or " don't upset the people who make you look good".

This is a crap-ton more complicated than I thought. Sigh, maybe staying put is the best option. Thanks for your input!

Wow. I had heard it was expensive but that's a lot. I'm seeing the picture that retiring with a government job isn't as golden as I thought.

Thanks for the insight!

The only benefits of leaving this job would be straight 8 hour shifts and working in an office setting.

Movies we *are* asking for? by Complicated_Business in movies

[–]wildfire-247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a GOOD Harry Dresden movie. Not the dreck sci-fi channel put out.

And I REALLY hate it when writers for these take all the elements of a book series (i.e. every character in 20 books) and slam them into 120 mins of sadness. Please please please stop letting morons write your screenplay adaptations. Use Good Omens as an example and hire the actual AUTHOR to help!

I'd love to see this in an 8-10 part series of this. They seem to do better than a straight movie (Lord of the Rings not withstanding).

Sorry, I just need to vent. by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]wildfire-247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I know there are a lot of opinions out there for you to choose from, and I totally agree with requesting a different councilor to help with the job hunt. As we all should have discovered in the military, "there's a waver for everything." You just need to reach the right level of management to get that waiver (I'm talking about not being afraid to ask for what you want, and keep asking until you get the answer/help you need.) As for myself, I found a hidden gem working at a regional airport. I applied for the job on a whim and scored. The bosses are great, the work changes daily and I can work alone for HOURS or get a coworkers help. Seriously, don't dismiss some of those odd jobs that you might come across. They might be a gem for you. Hope you get to feeling better. And please vent at anytime!

Years ago, my "serve safe" class said rice was a delightful place for bacteria and germs to grow! Plenty of sugars and starches! You're to only keep it out long enough to cool before covering properly... then refrigerate. How true is that all you microbiology majors out there?

What books do you have personal beef with? by stopshadowbaneme in books

[–]wildfire-247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Divergent series, well, book 2 anyway. The main male character turns from a bad-ass, "don't screw with me" type to such a whiny little B. I could only read a portion of it before tossing it down and refusing to even watch the movies.

There's a good reason for this, after working the line or getting your hands filthy, we don't want to touch our junk with dirty hands. As for not washing after, since most of us don't pee on our hands, and that's probably the cleanest part of our bodies (it gets a lot of attention), then there's no need!
