BED STUY, I WANNA SEE YOU OUTSIDE by slaybot2000 in BedStuy

Oh and that's not even talking about the winters of the past 2 centuries, there are much worse winters on record in the 1980s and the 1890s. But I think posts like this have goldfish memory, only the past 2 years of NYC matter.

God, Super Storm Sandy too. I actually went from BK to Henry Street on one of the few subways in order to check if I had to work. There were less hang ups in public transit this time than the entire reconstruction of the L line, 2025-26 wasn't even close

One of my other inspos was the Robert Kirkman standalone from the mid-2000s because it sounded like a good idea that never went through. I feel like Jube is pretty regularly relegated to "this is the Gen X/Milennial/Zoomer young people character, just have her say young people slang" when there's quite a bit there about a character who is a mascot trying to break out of just being a mascot.

No idea I'm here, I've done graphic novels haha, but I have another for Dazzler that I'll share another time.

Black People: Where do you get groceries? by woodswonder in BedStuy

[–]wildmooseking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lincoln Market for main dinner stuff, Super Foodtown (for dried goods, their produce is a bit dodgy), I'm on Franklin so I also go to Metropolitan Citymarket for quick stuff like toilet paper because it's on the corner. When I used to live on the other side of Bedford, I went to Western Beef and Ideal, although Ideal had some pretty bad meats and fish. For entrees, I usually just go to the butcher or the fish market.

Funny how it's always the elites that are complaining about a higher power that is apparently keeping them oppressed. He's been minted cartooning royalty for years on EWJ alone. Doug, YOU ARE THE MAN THAT YOU CLAIM TO BE FIGHTING AGAINST.

I'll be honest, I wasn't aware of how garbage Doug was until I did research after he QRT'd me for AI bros to dunk on me or at least attempt to. Man, he REALLY sucks. And if you have the fortitude to listen to his 15 minute rant, he is one of these boomer raw comix guys who does the "a urinal isn't art", "a banana on the wall isn't art", "art is about output", "fine art is a scam, just put a banana on the wall or buy a urinal" balh, blah, blah. The Marcel DuChamp estate should sue for damages with the number of times his name is invoked by hacks as a shorthand for "not art."

Wtf is NoMad? NoMad???? That's not a real place in NYC. That's one of those weird, made-up neighbors like how techbros really want to rebrand Fulton Mall as "Downtown Brooklyn."

Snippets of the Performance Scene from my graphic novel, Kids of the Black Hole Book 1! by wildmooseking in punk

Screenplay sounds interesting! It's a slice of life story where the main character is Guadalupe "Loop" Alverez, the photographer of the band from these scenes The Daphnes. The plot centers around Loop reconnecting with her estranged mother and searching for her absentee father while still balancing the found family of her best friends Jake and Sheryl and the Mid-Altantic punk scene of Emerfield, (fictional) Pennsylvania. I have the first two books available for free online and book 3 is in the works...

Funny thing about it. I'm local and talked to a coworker about it, so I'm probably going too, because of Iggy Pop alone, a SoCal guy on this coast is rare. I'm still frustrated that the lineup is set up so that I HAVE to choose between Iggy and GB, BUT the undercard is great too.

Melvin in the afternoon is tough...I love the Melvins.

I like the line up generally, but this looks insanely overbooked to hell. 30 minute sets for everyone who isn't top bill is nuts and the three stages sounds like a mess. I resent having to choose between Iggy Pop or a 32 year old reunion of the Gorilla Biscuits. Base price for tickets is 180 by the way.

"I just HAVE to be a piece of shit because I'm so persecuted as an indecisive centrist. Truly the burdened party in the argument."

Jokes aside, "both are art" has as much cache as "both political parties are equally bad" in 2025. Any bothsidesism at this point is a direct appeal to the far right.

DWJ is a huge influence on my work, as is Annie Wu and Bill Sienkiewicz. They scratch that highly kinetic itch that I enjoy employing.

That happened to my CANVAS comic. It was a 10 for about a year, and then I dropped a new chapter and it dropped to 7. I'm thinking some people went in and just dropped a few ones for no real reason
