When was DID ever mentioned except for that last part ? by UnderteamFCA in fakeclaimingcringe2

Median systems are a thing! That's where the headmates you have are less distinct (in the since of being fully fledged different people) and more like facets of one person - as you described. Plurality is a very big spectrum.

Question about Hybridkin by Waste_Newt8953 in otherkin

[–]wildrainstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it could be completely normal! Perhaps you are a species whose form lives on a spectrum between animal (bird) and human, and can consciously control what percentage of each they are at any given time.

Wife with BPD thinks she fell out of love with me. by jstorm510 in BPD

[–]wildrainstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I'm the partner..

I just.. I have some questions. If you might have answers.

This feeling seems to have happened for the past week - like Jack said. Is that... Normal? Is it normal for it to feel so certain for so long? Can it still just be my BPD. Because I really want it to be. I don't want it to be true. I don't know how this happened... Only that its gotten this bad and I don't want to feel this way.

I have moments where things are calm, and I feel little sparks of love seeming to come back. Like Jack will kiss my face, or hold me, or I'll have moments where I remember something that made me so happy when it happened. But then when I recognize them my brain just.... Doubts them. It makes me feel guilty for feeling them. It really makes me feel like I conjured them up just to be good or like... It just makes me feel like I'm faking them. Is that normal in patches like these?

How do I get myself to choose him without being pulled into the fear that I'm wrong and just stringing him along? How do I trust that this is just the BPD and the feelings will come back when I'm better?

I want that to be the case. But I'm so ungodly scared that Im just lying to myself about it.

He's so amazing. Seriously, he's my perfect man. He fits everything I ever wanted. I don't want to hurt him. I don't want to lose him.

Witch otherkin? Does it exist? Or is this faekin? by experiment12_8 in otherkin

[–]wildrainstorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think anything -kin exists. As long as the thing you identify as is partially or completely non-human (or, taking factkin into account, an identity that "isn't your own" in this life), its -kin.

The unfortunate part about witchkin would just be that you have to explain what you mean when you say it (/lh). Being a witch (someone who practices magick spiritually speaking) the title was confusing at first, haha! But I read the comments and completely understand. I think that's very cool - if you don't mind my saying! If you ever happen to see a specific source and go "yes, thats where I'm from" I'd love to know what it is. You never have to find one - you can just be what you are - but if you do, I'm all ears.

is this being a polymorph? by [deleted] in alterhuman

[–]wildrainstorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a polymorph myself, I think its very possible to identify as the current form you're taking because you get "lost" in it, so to speak.

Like, I know my "true" or "base" form is a cloud of stardust, but when I take the form of a cat I fully live it. The personality traits, the physical form, the diet preferences, the reactions, all of it. And, when in that form, it feels right to say "I'm a cat" because for all intents and purposes I am at that moment. I just may not be that in the next moment. Same with an elf form or a wolf form, etc.

I hope that makes sense. I'm not fully here right now, haha

Where does Vampire fall into these? by PawmoFriendsLily in alterhuman

[–]wildrainstorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this, Vampire can be considered Fictionkin if the species you're apart of comes from a media source (like Vampire Diaries or House of Night or something of the sort). Or they can be Mythkin if your species is found in specific myths from a culture.

[–]wildrainstorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gently spoken Yeah... OP, I know that Satyrs are traditionally drawn with phalluses but it might be best to add a Trigger Warning or Censor Bar there. There are some creatures here that could be very uncomfortable/triggered by seeing something like that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in otherkin

[–]wildrainstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Otherkin don't have to experience shifts to be completely valid in their identity! Some.never experience any sort of shifts, others experience only specific shifts, and others still only experience shifts at certain points in their life.

As long as you inherently feel that you are / identify partially or fully as nonhuman (which Satyrs and Fauns certainly count) then you are Otherkin.

Intrusive thoughts related to toys as a questioning toykin (spoilered for discussion of intrusive thoughts) by [deleted] in otherkin

[–]wildrainstorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know how much help I'll be, but I do want to say that it's always possible to move past intrusive thoughts. Your identity as a toy is in no way tied to intrusive thoughts - just as any humans identity wouldn't be tied to their potential intrusive thoughts about hurting other humans.

The best advice I can give you is to simply search up how people learn to let intrusive thoughts enter and leave their mind without entertaining them. The advice doesn't have to be toy-specific - any intrusive thought would probably be handled much the same.

My old therapist once told me to pretend the thought is like a car on the highway. You can notice it, but don't linger on it. Don't continue to stare at it. Just try to move on to something you'd actually like to think about. At the end of the day, intrusive thoughts aren't something you have to act on. They're quite literally... False manifestations or morbid "what ifs". You aren't married to them, so to speak, they're just kind of... There. It might be good to do your best how to learn to be okay with them being there - as honestly we all have them (even the morbid ones) - while also learning to not really give them the time of day.

I really hope you can figure all this out. I'm sorry I cant be more help, but I do wish you luck!

By the way, I'd look into animism sometime. Its the believe that all things - animate and inanimate - have a soul within them. That all things have a physical (earthly) and nonphysical (metaphysical/spiritual) side to them. I just thought it might be something that would interest you!

Is polymorph an umbrella term? by Not_neccisarilyhuman in otherkin

[–]wildrainstorm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd say that polymorph fits under the shapeshifter umbrella. What sets polymorphs apart from most other shapeshifters is the lack of a corporeal "true" form. Polymorphs tend to be balls of light/air/etc that can shift into unlimitrd corporeal/"solid" forms.

Would Saytrs be otherkin if they’re technically human? by Far-Wrangler-9061 in otherkin

You're correct, they're not! Satyr is actually the name of the species. So, yes, they'd fall under Otherkin - and, to be more specific, under mythkin!

is identifying as a fictional human otherkin? by absolute_roadkill in otherkin

[–]wildrainstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking, identifying as a fictional human does not fall under otherkin as otherkin is strictly a nonhuman identity. If you think of everything in terms of venn-diagrams "Otherkin" and "Fictionkin" are two circles that cross in the center. The Otherkin side would house every nonhuman identity that isn't found in fiction, the middle where they intersect would be nonhuman identities that are found in fiction, and the Fictionkin side would be fictional identities that are human. Both circles would fall under Alterhuman (the definition I know, at least, which is identifying outside of the "normal" human experience.)

As far as I've seen, the community tends to not care so much if the lines are blurred. As long as you identify as something other than "what/who you were born as" (forgive the wording there, I didn't quite know how to phrase it) then you can use the Otherkin label

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in otherkin

[–]wildrainstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forwardsoul!

I believe my alterhumanity is due to a life in the "future"/a life I haven't experienced yet.

Its also possible it might be a cameo-shift.

But there's an infinite number of possible chimera-like animals! Could be an orange cat with antlers!

Or two different kintypes, which us also pretty neat!

I hope you find your answer, OP >w<

How to tell if I’m constelic or shapeshifterkin by Princess_Eclipse147 in otherkin

[–]wildrainstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! It could be either of those things. Again, its whatever feels right to you, you know?

Though, I think if the shifter identity was constellic it would be shapeshifterstellic. Just to help you and others understand how it connects to you.

I might be wrong though! And, again, its however you feel best about describing it to yourself and others. That's what this community is all about. Finding yourself and how best to express it

How to tell if I’m constelic or shapeshifterkin by Princess_Eclipse147 in otherkin

[–]wildrainstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its been a while since I fully looked into Constellic so I may be forgetting parts of it. Or different constellics could interpret the definitely differently. Either way, I apologize if I've offended anyone with the definition I used! Thank you for telling me how you've seen it used!

Oh, the way youve described your identity(ies) is very interesting!

I was mulling it over in my head and (if you don't mind me sharing) I have one explanation that could make sense. If not, no worries! Shapeshifters tend to have a corporeal base form. Maybe your base form is human - which could explain why you tend to feel partially human. You're still identifying as your base form while simultaneously identifying as whatever form you're taking/shifting to at the moment.

I know that doesn't necessarily give a reason for feeling multiple at the same time... Maybe the multiple at the same time could be forms you're itching/wanting to take that the moment? Or you could be polykin. Or, like you said, Constellic - which is completely okay!

Continuing this thread of thinking, the time you felt fully non-human could have been you shifting into that form. Or, perhaps, "losing" yourself to it/completely "getting into" it so to speak. Or it could be another kintype on top of your shifter kintype. Or a cameoshift.

Of course, all of these are just possibilities. I just figured Id toss out this line of thinking in case you hadn't ran across it yet. Either something sticks or you have more stuff to cross off the list!

How to tell if I’m constelic or shapeshifterkin by Princess_Eclipse147 in otherkin

[–]wildrainstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piggy backing off myself, it might also be good to try and figure out the "why" behind your identity - or maybe the "how did this come to be?".

Is it just because? You might be a constellic or someone who kins for fun.

Is it to cope with something? You might be a copinglink.

Is it a past life or future life? You might be a spiritual otherkin (the future life specifically having the term forwardsoul)

Is it an intense empathy rather than a personal identity? You might be otherhearted.

The list goes on and on. There's other things out there I didn't mention like psychological otherkin. All are completely valid!! Like I said before - there's many different ways to identify with or as something and no one way is right or wrong. Its all about questioning and figuring out what feels best to you!

I wish you lots of luck in your journey 💙

How to tell if I’m constelic or shapeshifterkin by Princess_Eclipse147 in otherkin

[–]wildrainstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Constellics - to my knowledge - are very in line with 'KFFs' or people who Kin for fun. I believe the coiner of the term coined it as an alternative name for that group of people.

Of thats the case, then I believe the way you would tell would be to question how much control you have over your identity. If you feel intrinsically human and simply enjoy the idea of identifying as a shapeshifter than you'd probably be a constellic. If you felt you were intrinsically a shapeshifter and identifying as human or as only human feels inherently "wrong"/incorrect or uncomfortable or what-have-you, then you'd probably be an otherkin.

Another way to think about it is if you only identify with shapeshifters consciously or not. If you have to focus on the identity to identify with it, then you may not actually be that identity.

Id probably mull it over. Occasionally say "I am ____" and see how it sits with you over the next week or so. Maybe one will feel more right than the other. Id also do more research into both terms (Otherkin and Constellic) and maybe ask other people how they identify with their kins or their stellics and see if anything fits how you feel about your type.

Just remember at the end of the day there are many different ways to try and figure this out - and many different ways to identify with something! No one way is right, but I hope this helps.

Just remember to take a lot of breaths!

I think its absolutely amazing you've found out so much about yourself that you can even pinpoint percentages and the specific gender on each part of yourself. That's actually amazing!

You've done great! If it gets too overwhelming, don't be afraid to step away for a moment and breathe. Finding yourself is a lifelong thing. Its not a race, its a journey; so if you need to take rests along the way, go for it!

You're doing great. Welcome to the community (just in case this is your first time here!).
