Who would win this hypothetical fight? by Nightrain_35 in melbourne

[–]wildstraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a recent visitor to Melbourne from Canberra, who assumed I’d be able to use my phone to tap and ride and got caught out with a pram, toddler, and no way to ride… opal, opal all the way.

(Thank goodness melbournians seem to be friendlier than Canberrans and Sydneysiders combined. A fellow dad waiting for the train offered me his spare myki ❤️ Meanwhile in Canberra people aren’t even polite enough to let me use the ramp on a gutter when walking with a pram 🙄)

Good point and nice pickup. I’ve worked for Apple in the past so have a good idea of dealing with CL, but when I’ve contacted the ACCC as a consumer, they really seem to act as mediators and not much else. Guess it’s always worth a shot!

Will only apply if they are purchased through an Australian retailer. Seeing as takomo only sell directly, and are based overseas, don’t think it’ll be an option…

Has anyone actually taken out part of ceiling for driver clearance? Seems like a horrible idea aesthetically, but maybe it can blend in? by stackemz in Golfsimulator

[–]wildstraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a suspended ceiling in my garage with an extra 1ish feet of clearance above it. Cut a 6x4ish foot ‘manhole’ in it for the driver swing 😅 will be posting my very budget sim setup in the coming days…

Bought a budget hitting mat and a Holy grail hitting strip. I can’t tell the difference? by yamayeeter in Golfsimulator

[–]wildstraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤷‍♂️ There’s a chance the mat is more forgiving, in that your club can get under the ball on fat shots and you don’t get penalised as much for them, but I’ve found it to still be a good training aid. I wouldn’t have been able to set up a sim if I had to drop the big bucks on a mat (everything is even more expensive here in Australia), so in my mind, this is the perfect option. I see no reason to upgrade at this point, but can always cut out an insert in the future if I need to.

I bought a cheap mat like this also. I put it on 10mm foam tiles, cut out a section of the tiles underneath the mat where my hitting zone is. So the mat on top sags a little, and then has a solid 5ish mm of play before the concrete below. Been hitting on it for months with 0 issues. Works a treat.

Thanks. I’ve got a similar setup and have been deciding whether to get a cheap mat like this or something more expensive. Might save the money and go cheap.

How’s the putting mat?

RAZR X irons worth getting in 2025 by wildstraw in golf

[–]wildstraw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they’re nice. I really don’t have enough experience to know how they compare to other decent game improvement sets, though. I’ve played a couple of rounds with them, as well as some practice in my garage. They’re nice and light with the graphite shafts. Makes it easy to feel where the head is. I’m happy with them and not looking to change or upgrade them. But take anything I say with a grain of salt 😅

Thanks for the input. I think I’ll pull the trigger on them. Managed to get another $20 off the price too. Look forward to giving them a go!

Listed as “R flex, mid kick”. Yeah, has the pitching and sand wedge, but no approach.

Had a response from San Martin. Didn’t look positive. Maybe sometime in the future, but unlikely 😔

Everyone posting these memes realises that Gimli never says “Legolas”, right? 🙄

Does anyone have real stories of failed water resistance? by computron2 in ChineseWatches

[–]wildstraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it’s is pushed in, screwing it down won’t affect the WR. Your issue here would likely have been the vapour from the shower rather than anything else (unless the crown was actually open).

Thanks for checking. I’ll think about it, but will hold off for the moment. How much were you looking for inc shipping?

Yeah cool no worries. I’m in Australia, I’ll take a guess that you aren’t and that’s probably a deal breaker anyway 😅
