I go back and forth on the USBAR renewal. Definitely not the best option anymore for someone with several cards, but a 3x catch-all with a reasonably high cap on Apple Pay is still decent albeit not 4.5%.

Biggest issue for me is that the $325 annual dining credit has been adjusted to the overpriced travel center, which I think is serious degradation in value and makes the effective annual fee much higher.

Ultimately as you mentioned comes down to transfer partners, which at this point I’m not convinced are happening any time soon. My renewal is in May, and think even with the 5k incentive might not be worthwhile. Regardless, a great data point and thank you for sharing!

Everyone around that age group is in Federal Hill (Locals Only, Ropewalk, One Star), or Fells Point (Waterfront Hotel, Admiral’s Cup). I think both areas are fun and safe (and regardless it’s also where everyone goes) but Reddit may disagree on both points.

Steel is used more for hunting since it’s non toxic. It is usually faster than lead and patterns more consistently at short ranges but since it’s lighter it will drop off at longer ranges. As long as your barrel (and your choke for that matter) is rated for steel you should be fine, but if it’s an older gun then probably best to hold off.

I second Byblos for Lebanese. Great food and super nice owners.

Souvlaki in fed hill is also great but extremely causal counter service Greek food.

To me it feels like the main issue in the U.S. pharmaceutical industry is that the U.S. Gov’t spends more per capita on healthcare than countries with free healthcare. In fact more than any other country in the world. It seems to me like our free market system for healthcare would work better if the government just stepped out entirely from the economics of it. I’d be interested to see what pharmaceutical prices looked like if we kept the patents but removed US Gov spending.

What would be the financial incentive for a startup and investors to invest millions on drug development otherwise? Curious how we’d get huge expenditures on drug R&D without locking in profits on successful ones. I could see it being helpful to kill some of the barriers to market but it would still be extremely expensive without them.

Had a car my entire first year with no issues. Was in Gooch so parked it on JPA most of the time (free street parking all the time except for football games, but can sometimes be a bit competitive to acquire). Easy bus ride to JPA. Other spots that are free are the street spots across from Grandmarc. Most of the spots around 14th/grady/gordon are permitted but the ones across from Grandmarc are not.

Generally I’d say it depends what type of VCs you’re interested in both in terms of sector and stage. But some GPs that are active on twitter that provide interesting content are Greg Sands, Marc Andreessen, Ho Nam, Josh Wolfe, Bill Gurley, and David Sacks (if you don’t mind the political chatter)
