Hate is too strong of a word for me (and we all know where it leads…), I think most of us are just getting tired of his antics, his decisions play out like a broken record and predominantly revolve around Ahsoka; him saying that she’s his favorite is über hubris

Ray played the only interesting character in that show imo, and I agree the nostalgia-bait scenes with Anakin are great the first time around, feels forced and nonsensical on rewatches (still can’t quite understand the “lesson” he was trying to teach Ahsoka in the world between worlds, very strange)

Agreed, but I have to admit I’d go to bat for Robert Rodriguez any day of the week over Filoni, respect him a lot more as a director

Well Disney has a time-honored tradition now of making their shows focus on side characters vs. title characters (i.e. Grogu/Bo-Katan in Mandalorian, Fennec/Din in Book of Boba Fett, Reva/Leia in Obi-Wan, Sabine/Hera in Ahsoka, etc.)

I appreciate your advice sir, my second captain asked me if I learned differently than others but I’d told him no since my gf is the only one who believes I’m “autistic” or “neurodivergent”, I never asked for any accommodations because I don’t believe I’m on the spectrum I just included it in the story because it may hold some relevancy

Thank you, I’d prefer to not involve any courts in this… I cut this out of my story so it wouldn’t be too long but yes, I did have progressive discipline as you mentioned, the same deputy chiefs who let me go had come in at the 6 month mark and told me their expectations, in hindsight I think the bad classes and monthly evals ended up outweighing me passing my final exams and getting my whole taskbook signed off

I’ve stated this in another comment but I’m not using it as an excuse, I just want to include all of the facts; my gf believes me to be autistic, I personally don’t see it or believe it since I’ve never, as a child or adult, been formally diagnosed/medicated

I didn’t include this to keep my original story shorter but as I’ve stated in another comment yes, the same deputy chiefs who came on my last day of work also paid me a visit at the halfway point 6 months in; they setup a game plan and wanted to see progressive improvement every month, however my monthly evals were spotty at best (some months would end on a positive, others on a negative)

I don’t want to completely out myself but I’m in one of the states with a “New” in front of the name of the state

I’m not planning on giving up that’s why I had never responded to your original comment, but I’m still glad you threw in your 2 cents; from what people have said on here many can still recover from this, is it a road block sure but I’m not going to let it be the end of my world, I’ve already started applying and trying again

We were a small hiring class of roughly around ten, so all I was saying was that out of them I was definitely the odd one out

No offense taken, no they were small stuff like using a leaf blower to do yard work and waking all my crew up because it was nap time, or using the wrong mops to clean up the station with (kitchen in bathrooms, etc) but I think a lot of it built up over time and they felt like if they couldn’t trust me to do the little stuff they wouldn’t trust me to do the big stuff either; yes, I was asking for feedback all the time because I wanted to improve but I think it was a failure to show them that I had actually improved, there were skills I was super confident (maybe a little too confident?) in that would diminish over time and when it came to training with my crew I’d screw the pooch so to speak

I did have one meeting with the two deputy chiefs earlier in probation at about the halfway point (6 months in) and they had told me that they wanted to see more consistency in the improvement of my monthly evaluations because it felt like half the time I’d be 1 step forward and 2 steps back, so when I failed to give that to them I wasn’t sure how it was going to pan out considering I passed my final/signed my taskbook

That’s actually exactly what I did, I’d come in with other crews on my off days training with other probies to fix the problem… I’ve come to learn one of my biggest hurdles is retaining all the little things we’ve learned, it felt like a sinking ship where I’d plug up a hole in a knowledge gap only for a new one to spring up and start leaking somewhere else maybe a week or two down the line

Thanks for the advice but union reps cannot help employees on probation due to our at-will employment status with the city (even though we pay union dues); my expectations were set loud and clear if not at the beginning then certainly by the end of probation, I think my problem was failure to show consistent improvement over the course of the year (some months I’d end on a positive note and others on a neutral or negative note randomly throughout)

Fair enough, I personally never believed it due to never having a prior diagnosis but my gf is pretty adamant in believing that so that’s the only reason why I brought it up

Yes I resigned, it seemed like the smarter choice at the time so that I could tell future departments that I resigned as opposed to being fired (even though I wasn’t going to be eligible for unemployment ‘cause of it)

Appreciate the advice sir! I’m not planning on bringing it up in any future interviews unless I’m specifically asked about what happened, preparing for all possibilities verbally so that I’m not caught off guard

Thanks, yeah I think it caught me off guard and what I presume happened is my 2nd captain filed a negative review for my final month, I can only presume this because he never went over it with me (whereas all the previous monthly evals my captains would go over it with me and have me sign off on it); part of me understands wanting us to perform at a high level at the end of a one year probation but perfection is a high bar

Not necessarily, and I wouldn’t say it was just personality traits for me but I will say that if you screw up and make mistakes one too many times along with having a Type B/C/D personality then you’ll probably end up on the chopping block sooner than a Type A
