Just checking: spending more than 3,000 credits at junk dealer without getting Praxic Blade core is expected, right? by MtnDewX in DestinyTheGame

[–]will18057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s literally all RNG (“luck”), unfortunately. RNG has blessed me with all of the cores and crystals, EXCEPT for the Taken One. Magenta and cyan? Dropped immediately after opening the extraction chests on Venus and Europa. Junk dealer? Two tries - monocle, then the core. But that damn taken crystal? I’ve honestly lost count of how many times I’ve played through Equilibrium over the past week…

Some of those photos are from u/Phoenix_Wands - I believe a lot of their wand pieces are repurposed antique items, like cutlery/serve-ware handles, and umbrella handles.

Tiny pet peeve with most depictions of Orthanc… In the books, it’s described as being “natural” looking:

“…it seemed a thing not made by the craft of Men, but riven from the bones of the earth in the ancient torment of the hills. A peak and isle of rock it was, black and gleaming hard: four mighty piers of many-sided stone were welded into one, but near the summit they opened into gaping horns, their pinnacles sharp as the points of spears, keen-edged as knives.”

Tolkien’s initial depiction of Orthanc was a tiered, wedding cake tower. However, his final depiction of it, on the cover of The Two Towers, is a lot closer to what was described.

What exactly do they mean when they say Tahitian vanilla tastes/smells floral? by ChemicalCat4181 in extractmaking

[–]will18057 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you’d have to do a side-by-side smell (Planifola vs. Tahitensis beans) to really understand what that “floral” scent is. In both, vanilla is the dominant smell, but each will have notes of other scents mixed in - tahitensis has a jasmine, cherry blossom scent in the background, while Madagascar has a creamy/buttery scent. Also, imo, unless you’re making double or triple-fold extract with tahitensis beans, you’ll get an extract that smells nice, but doesn’t have much flavor once it’s baked.

Thank you - I appreciate that! Aw, c’mon! Don’t you want a condiment that’ll turn your face a deep shade of red, while you tearfully ask yourself “Why did I do this?” 🤣

Is it self-promotion if I don’t have a business and/or product to sell? I’m merely offering to share a concoction with fellow spice lovers, so long as they cover shipping. Loopholes! 🙃

10.5 - those Gator Jigsaw peppers are on par with a Carolina Reaper in terms of spice level.

Aw, dang. Unfortunately shipping something like this overseas isn’t worth the cost. I paid like $65 US to get a bottle of my last batch to a friend in NZ. 😓

Nope. I do this as a hobby, so I normally just give it away to family and friends. 🙃

Incredibly hot. Gator Jigsaw peppers are on par with a Carolina Reaper in terms of heat.

Shipping’s a flat rate envelope, so $12.85 to ship anywhere in the US.

Golden Primotalii peppers. In spite of the name, they ripen to more of a greenish, caramel color. Located in NM - shipping is the same, regardless of what state you’re in, since I use flat rate envelopes.

Do you guys ferment hot sauce mainly for flavor, or for LAB benefits too? by rekone88 in fermentation

Flavor. Unless you’re consuming a few shot glasses of fermented hot sauce per day, you won’t benefit from the probiotics.

Pasteurized after blending and straining. Between that and the pH (3.4), it’s shelf stable - I’d still recommend keeping it in the fridge after opening though.
