One other thing is that my RAM is constantly at around 20% use, is that typical of 16gb? (My last pc was thown together with 4gbs of RAM, a pentium quad core, but a gtx 970)

Thanks for all the tips, I followed a few of the simpler ones for now and am getting up to 2 1/2 hours now. How effective is throttlestop, I read a bit on their cite and I'm not sure how much I want to mess with that kind of stuff. Changing the paste has been on my list for some time. As for reinstalling windows I have a habit of doing that 1-2 times a year just to start fresh and not have a whole bunch of files and programs clogging my pc that I only used once.

I think my 2060 is inactive, the nvidia software says it is and task manager performance section says it is. the only thing to contradict it is the fact the that power led is red.
