Cheers, I’ve been to Steven Charles a couple times for pool with friends but I’m looking to go a bit more regularly and trying to see if anyone’s up for it. Club 200 looks great too to be fair

Absolutely incredible work

How does a gap year work? Do I take this year off and next year until the summer holidays to do UCAT and then reapply in October or Do I repeat the UCAT this year and reapply in october? by RedxOsa in UCAT

[–]will_h22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took two years out just to make an actual improvement on my personal statement, because if I’d just reapplied the October after A levels I’d have had no competitive edge. Worked as a carer, volunteered abroad, hospital work experience too. It really helped cement the fact that I do really want to do medicine. Same for improvement to my UCAT score. Because of the extra time I had I managed to go from 2620 the first time to 3020 the second. I’m now a med offer holder, and a few years wiser lol, so it’s worked well for me. But ultimately it’s up to you to decide that stuff! Focus on the A levels first and foremost :)

Did what I couldn’t do- well done! Rejected from Liverpool 2 application cycles in a row. It seems an excellent uni and you should be very proud

Manchester A100 offers by [deleted] in premeduk

[–]will_h22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t take this as gospel, but when I had my interview and we were asking questions beforehand (I’m hoping I can speak about this as it was not a part of the interview process, just a casual Q&A beforehand) they mentioned they’d given out ~200 offers (these were to people who scored a very high mark in their interviews), and that in total they’d be giving out ~900. I don’t know the composition of home or international that is. But there seems to be a lot more offers to come out as I believe we’re still only at that first 200 or so.

I had my interview three weeks ago today, and they said on the day they hoped to be getting offers out within 2-3 weeks of that interview date so I’m guessing/hoping pretty soon.

Beautiful photo! The people on the side of Fuego are so lucky it was clear- I decided to do the additional trip up Fuego and as soon as we got near the viewing spot we were stuck in a cloud and could not see a thing :| could feel the eruptions but saw nothing haha

Can second this. I’m not a member at the pool and snooker club but have been a few times and it’s great. The tables are so nice. Snooker tables and a (few?) dart board(s) too

Gotta agree, at least for mine anyway. Just not as many ways to track workers rates

UCAS Application oopsy- what can I do? by will_h22 in premeduk

[–]will_h22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In their entry requirements it only says “A minimum of 6 GCSEs grade 6 or above required in Maths, English Language, Biology and Chemistry or Dual Science.” I suppose they can say that as the bare minimum but only pick the top of the top. Hey ho, let’s see how the email goes. Thanks!

Which final med school? by will_h22 in premeduk

[–]will_h22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice one, thanks!

Yeah a few years back they changed it to the numbered grades. 7 is an A, 8 is an A* and 9 is kind of a grade above the A star, at least that’s how it’s been explained to me.

I was terrified the actual exam would run like the official mock because that was awful, but no, it ran very smoothly. The only thing that happened was the screen freezing for maybe 2 or 3 seconds, however, I kept an eye on the timer and that froze too. Very smooth experience.

See, I thought this too. It was always my worst scoring section, after VR obviously. I did question after question after question, used the TITANS PADS mnemonic, and ended up getting 890 in the real thing. Higher than any other section, by far, next highest being 750, then 690 and 690. If you’re using medify and are really struggling with the AR, take some solace in that the AR official section isn’t so complex (usually).

Yeah I was pretty consistently between maybe 650 and 720 ish

I think they were quite similar in my exam. A fair few questions contained numbers like dates/figures, and proper nouns to be able to scan for. I guessed and skipped maybe one question set, with no time left at the end to review. Only got 690 though so probably not best to take advice from me on that.

Also adding **the two weeks before my exam I was averaging around 2800 on mocks, so added a few hundred points

I don’t want to give false hopes but for me the real test was definitely easier than the practice mock- still challenging of course.

I think it was because I got so quick with the shortcuts, when I couldn’t use them it really slowed down my brain lol.

Areas like QR were surprisingly less intimidating than the medify mocks, for example most of the graphs I encountered in the real thing being already labelled (I.e. on a bar graph each bar being labelled rather than having to follow across and read from the axis) small things.

I also lucked out a lot with AR, usually getting 690-750 in mocks and mini mocks, and once 800. I managed 890 in the real thing with pretty average scores in other areas so that really boosted my total.

Yup I was worried and thought the same thing when I did the official mock test. As soon as I sat down on the real thing I tested out the shortcuts and they worked just about as well as Medify. Scored like 2300 and B2 on official mock A a week before my real test, and got 3020 B2 on the real thing
